Quote - I know some people seem to think that 5 hour renders for anything in Studio is normal, but it's not.
I've just put an article up that might help some of you who are rendering forever.
Thanks for a great and very clear set of explanations. Wish this was in the DS manual. You should offer this tutorial on DAZ3D and get some credit.

Thanks RH,
I've started playing w the lights but that is a whole topic in itself. I know there are some basic tutorials about lighting in DS, so I will begin by reading those.
Thanks,
Dan
Thread: Thorne-Sarsa Claudia for V3 can't find loaded texture map | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - The RR version of Victoria 3 has a lower resolution mesh than the full version. Since morphs are tied absolutely to the mesh they are made for that means the morphs in the set won't work for you - you may get changes due to expression morphs in the RR figure, but that's it. Depending on whther this is a custom morph or a dialed up morph you may need just the base V3 (still available free from download.com) or the base plus the morph packs - I'd get the DAZ figure bundle freebie and see if that helps. (Having checked the product page, Caludia has a custom morph for the head so you could use that with just the base, but the body shape uses the body morph pack.) ....for the eyes - check the readme for the list of files installed files. Claudia appears to have several make up options, but only the one set of eyecolours.
Sorry for the delay in feedback to your help.
Thanks!
Knowing that RR means Reduced Resolution helps. Once I loaded the full V3 (V3 SR1 if I remember), the morphs worked properly, and then after I loaded the V3 full body morphs, the Thorne/ Sarsa body morphs worked fine. I think the texture maps were in fact in the same location as the face morphs and textures, so it all appears to be working fine now.
My only problem is that with my renders in DAZ STudio the skin shade appears darker and less vibrant than in the demo jpegs that Thorne & Sarsa show (no postwork). I read someplace that DStudio renders need some tweaking relative to renders in Poser (possibly with characters developed for Poser before DAZ Studio was fully functional. Is that correct? Can you suggest any notes or tutorials that explain this matter?
Thanks for your quick help.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping to get some specific help from Thorne or Sarsa, the vendors for these characters.
I purchased Minuette & Claudia for V3 from Renderosity to use in DAZ Studio (latest version) and have run into some problems. I have purchased some other characters years ago, but I never got very far with Poser 2 or 4. I now have Poser 6, but I find it very confusing and like DAZ Studio a million times better. For the first time I'm able to work with various characters and get really good looking renders.Â
I can load Minuette & Claudia but they don't look as good as they should.
Should I be using V3 SR1 rather than V3 RR?
For some reason I cannot find the texture maps for eyes etc. when using DAZ Studio. I know I installed it because I can see all of the jpeg files.

Claudia and Minuette
In DAZ Studio I see !!Claudia & !!Minuette under Poses -and see Head and Body INJ files for Claudia
1 MAT file for Claudia & Minuette ONLY no eye, lashes, or teeth for either
Am I doing something wrong? Is there something special I need to do? in order to be able to access these them in DS?
I'm a new user and just starting to learn DS. I don't think I have this problem w some of the other V3 purchased characters.
I could not find any way to contact Thorne or Sarsa on Renderosity and so I went to Faerie Wylde Forums, but as of today I still have not been approved to post in the Forum which is how I planned to get help for this problem.
Thanks,
Dan
PS I suspect my DAZ Studio Content folders are not properly setup -there are too many things under Pose, rather than other folders.
Thread: Intrinsic Poser Storage Flaws! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was referring only to the strategy of keeping the OS and the application Programs separate from your data. There are many, many advantages to doing that. Some application programs don't even separate your data into a separate folder (data is mixed right in with program files). This is very stupid. The main idea is that once you have an application program all loaded it does not change much, but your data is constantly changing. Therefore it makes sense to backup your data often, and your application programs much less often, thereby save both time and space (backup media). I hope this makes it clearer.

I can't find the Poser Wishlist, but if you look at my comments in the Poser Forum you will see that I would like a completely new Poser File Management System.

You may be thinking of CR2EDIT. I've just installed the latest update, but although CR2EDIT should help with installs, it will not solve the overcrowding problem, or lack of portability. The solution must come from Curios Labs, from modifying Poser storage structure. I've sent a copy of this to them, but they don't even have a Customer Suggestion Box, so I had to send my letter to an arbitrary e-mail. If Poser was designed with more foresight, and if you had the opportunity to install all of your "downloads" into a separate folder on perhaps a different drive--all you would have to do is tell the reinstalled Poser where the fodlers are and it would all work. It took me a awhile to figure out how to apply textures that did not come with a particular character. In the Render Options Menu there is a Materials button. Go there and then load the texture jpg or tif. Also heed the instructions in the readme.txt if there was one w respect to color (object, reflections, etc.) There may also be bump maps and transparency files too. A major problem is the lack of a standard for download packaging. It is often extremely confusing and difficult, certainly time confusing to have to put this file here, that file there etc. This is something I would like to hold serious discussion about, some other time
