The price jump with hexagon is why I am trying to figure this out now, before there is a need to shell out the extra $$$. As to a renderer, I have not given that much thought. I have a few programs that can render (poser, shade, bryce) but I have heard nothing but good things about the carrara renderer. I think rendering is secondary right now as neither program offers it anyway. Maybe the way to go is to get Hexagon now at the $99 price and get Silo later as the Silo price is stationary.

Interesting. Thanks Teyon. That's exactly what I was looking to get. An unbiased assessment. Hopefully others will also chime in.

I agree Stu. I am currently using Silo's demo and I have to say that the more I use it the more I like it. Hopefully you're right on the date for the demo or it will narrow my choice down to one.

Another thought would be to postwork it. Render the full scene and bring it into photoshop (or equivanent) and do a gaussian blur. Then render just the figure you want not blurry and save as a tif. Bring into photoshop and use the alpha channel to select just that character. Then cut and paste onto anothe layer over the first image.

So ming, by your own rules are you trying to censor us? LOL STOPPING someone from speaking is censorship. Having an opinion about what they say and expressing it is called the free flow of ideas.

DAZ will allow you to export wavefront obj's So I bet that would work. Heck as randym said it's free, might as well give it a go.

Sounds like a codec problem. I am not up on VirtualDub but if you get souond and there is no image it is usually a codec problem. See if the program talks about codecs and which one you need. If it is divx you can go to www.divx.com and download the codec. I just looked at the virtualdub site and it seems to point to Divx as the codec you need. Good luck! E.

That would work. I was thinking about maybe using Shade to make the text as another idea if not a texture. I know not everyone has it so I would be willing to help. So many ways to go about this. I'm a newbie but this is just the sort of thing to help hone the skills. This should be fun!
