It's a weird problem ! I can't remember if I've ever had that kind of problem, but have you tried to create a new class when entering the new object ? Another way to solve this problem is to export the new object to another RDS file and then re-import it. This solution will keep all the textures in place and won't cause any mesh deformation. Keep me aware of the results ! About the screenshots, there are several ways to save the captured pictures : - if you have a special program to capture, there's no problem ; - if you don't, use the keyboard shortcut : ALT + PRINTSCREEN. Open your favourite 2D program and then use the "Paste" function. You will then be able to resize, cut and save your picture. I haven't really got it : what do you mean by "created from a master object" ? Fabien CREAFab, la crtion numique autrement...Thread: Working with Sprites | Forum: Carrara

Well, I know how to use sprites in RDS, but I dont know how to make a shadow corresponding to the arms. If you want to use a picture with transparent parts, create a pattern with white parts which will be transparent in your 2D program. In the texture editor, load the image and check the "white transparent" option. Apply the texture ot your object : the white parts are transparent. If you want to enhance the realism of the texture, load the same picture in the bump channel (only if some shaded parts are painted on your image !) : the white parts of your picture will automatically be transparent, and the shaded parts will appear as real shadows on your 3D model. Hope this helps. FabienThread: Boolean Blues | Forum: Carrara

You know, I also found Amapi a bit weird, but now that I master it (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and that I understand a little of its logic, it appears...easier ! Just a tip for the Amapi booleans : for a mesh substraction, first select the object you want to make disappear, then select tne "Cut" tool (I think it's its english name, and then click on the mesh you want a part to be cut. I use RDS, not Carrara, and I used to apply boolean operations, but I had weird results, textures couldn't fit to the resulting shape, there were too many useless faces. Finally, I got Amapi 4.15, and now, when I have to make a boolean operation for a RDS mesh, I prefer to model the object entirely in Amapi and then export it to RDS. Sometimes, I use the "decimation tool" of Amapi to have an even lighter object. FabienThread: Your computer... | Forum: Carrara

Thanks ! Indeed, when I told about using Amapi, I hoped the answer would be yes, because every RDS/Carrara user knows, as Eovia, that thier favourite program sometimes really needs an external help for modelling some kids of objects. It's a good thing you said using someone else's models is not that good for a contest. I used to put images on a french contest, and sometimes, I recognized some library objects in the winner's images... but they used Maya, so, you know, for some people, that's enough for a judgement... According to the posts on an other newsgroup, the head modelling tutorial on this web site is great. I don't know much more about it, so go and check by yourself ! http://www.totyo.com

Merci beaucoup pour les encouragements ! Il n'y a malheureusement pas beaucoup plus d'images dans la galerie, mais je travaille encore sur mon dessin anim et je ne peux pas tout faire ! Je suis content que mes tut servent un peu ! Thanks for the encouragements ! Unfortunately, there aren't many more pictures in the gallery, but I'm still working on my animation film, and I can't do everything ! Glad to see my tutorials may be useful !

Well, I still use RDS for my personal use, especially when I need a fast/good rendered image, or when I need PNG animation. I also keep on teaching RD to my pupils who are working on a small cartoon using R3D. In fact, I actually use Blender most of the time, and Amapi 4.15 when I have to model something renderd into RDS. Thanks. If you ever need a translation of some part of my tutorials, just ask me ! Thanks for the warning about the broken links. It's strange because I had checked all the links with Netscape 4.7 and 6.1. I'll try to fix that. CREAFab, la crtion numique autrement... creafab@free.frThread: Textures on booleans | Forum: Carrara
