@wolf: Still most stuff that aniMate+ adds to DS can be done in Poser and Poser simply suits my workflow better. There might be a few things simpler to do in aniMate but (with some scripting) they can be done in Poser as well. And switching between applications each time doesnt help to simplyfy things either. Still if aniMate+ should ever be released for Poser Ill be the first one to buy it.
@Dizzi: Thanks for providing all those great freebies. I downloaded most of them already long ago and they are great. The availbility of plugins like yours were another reason to convince me using Poser instead of DS (which still is a great program tho).
But the three mentioned ones are pretty powerfull ones. I dont even think the Poser API would allow plugins like them.

Yes, aniMate+ is pretty nice. But unfortunately there is no Poser version and DAZ Studio doesnt allow keyframe editing. Even with aniMate you get only the keyframes for one actor at once instead of having them all in a table like in Poser. There is no spline section either. Thats why I personally prefer Poser.
Tho I really wish there were some of the DAZ plugins like aniMate, Pupeteer or Powerpose...

I just gave it a quick try with my very limited Poser/Python knowledge and it actually seems to work pretty ok. Its acceptable fast with iterating and the animation looks ok to me even without keyframing every frame.
Well, thats for my very limited figgure and a few animations I have toyed with. I wouldnt swear its an universal solution tho.
The only thing still giving me a hard time are the section modes and the break spine. Ill yet have to figgure out how to retrieve/set them for individual actors.

Really? I would assume it doesnt make a difference unless youre using "constant selection"!?
That BVH Helper does not preserve non-keyframes seems logical since in a BVH every frame is a keyframe anyway but for working inside poser I prefer having as few keyframes as possible/necessary as it makes it easier to modify the animation.
If there really isnt anything I might try to write my own script. I'm afraid there is no more elegant way than to iterate though every actor and retrieve the keyframes using "NextKeyFrame()", store their data, delete them and paste them in reverse order before going on with the next actor?
The models im typically working with do only have 19 actors and I only need the rotation info. But still a faster/more elegant way would be nicer...
I dont think there is there any way to retrieve the selected keyframes in the editor or animation set? I cant seem to find anything like this in your book or the PoserPython manual.

Thanks Phil.
I already own BVH Helper (great tool btw.) and after your post I even checked the "More" section and found it. I really should have guessed its in that tool set).
But after running it on an animation every frame is keyframed so it seems it doesnt selectively copy/reverse only the keyframes that already existed. Unfortunately this makes further editing of the animation pretty hard.
Is there any trick I am missing or some other tool preserving non-keyframes?

Thanks for the idea - I already knew his site and he has lots of animation scripts but unfortunately no reverser.
Thread: Best Poser 8 Library Manager? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Will the new library support multiselection so we don't have to drag every single piece of clothing to the caracter but can select a whole outfit (taken its in one folder)?
A pity that folder favorites ain't supported this really would have been a big help when working with favorites... Anyway the feature of adding mat-poses to the character library already is great :)
Thread: Poser 8 version of WW2 outside of Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Is there (for P8 / PP2010 users) a way to "upgrade" to the full version e.g. purchase just the standalone version minus the python/plugins that we already have?
WW2 is great, the only downside about it is its blocking the whole Poser application until the conversation is finished. So the standalone would be handy. But I hesitate to purchase the full version just for this since I already have the functionality.
Thread: How to access older posts? | Forum: Community Center
Awww, thank you bunches. The "archive" is more or less what I was looking for.
While this board is one of the most helpfull and informative ones I found so far - its software is by far the worst I ever came across. Well, at least since there is internet and the days of dial-in BBS are gone...
Thanks for help! :)
Thread: How to adjust conforming skirts to legs? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks again for all the responses - they all have been terribly helpfull!
As you see I am pretty new to poser and still try to struggle my way through and find an orientation. So I didnt yet had a lot of skirts to play with. And indeed after purchasing two commercial ones I found they do have the bodyhandles to adjust the falloff. Strangely one even automaticaly adjusted to the pose without needing any manual interaction. What kind of feature is that and why dont others do the same? (Is that what they call "crosstalking"?)
I also checked Wardrobe wizard but havent been able to find an option to add body handles to skirts. Neither in the conversation dialog nor in the utilities section. So Im afraid I really have to forget about using freebies at least as I stick with conforming clothes.
Apart from that the clothify really seems to work without the need to convert them to dynamic first. Ill yet have to find out if it makes a noticable difference in quality and not every skirt seems to take it well but this at least gives me something to start with.
The reason I refrained from using them (apart from beeing lazy indeed) is that most stuff (I had/found) was conforming. Knowing I can do without really gets me started and I will work myself through the mentioned threads/tutorials. After all clothifying is not really more work then playing around with handles for hours till you get it right.
Now I only need to understand the mystery why some skirts do adjust to poses and others don't and why some creators sell their skirts without that option and without body handles...
So thank you all for pointing me into different directions to check out.
Frank

So I guess I am out of luck with this one? I dont have that many long skirts yet (throusers conform fine and short skirts are easier on that one) but most of the ones I have actually seem that way. Most of them are freebies tho. Are long skirts generally a problem or did I just had bad luck so far end ended up with ones that dont work too well? Are there any other workarounds?
Thanks for all the help so far!
Thread: Animation sets tab? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks all for the replies. So I take it the "animation sets" tab is not really good for anything anymore. Pity...
A little bit offtopic but since our Python guru is watching this thread:
Would it (in theory) be possible to add something like an aniMate and/or Pupeteer functionality to Poser with a plugin or is the API too limited/slow?
For those who are not familar with them:
aniMate can basicly group keyframes to independent groups and give them a name. So I can shuffle them around, repeat and/or delete them easily and without checking what exactly each keyframe does and which motion it belongs to.
Pupeteer (DAZ buildin) stores a set of static poses and I can mix them by dragging a cursor in the area between. E.g. I have two poses who define arm up/down and two for forward/backward. Now I can create any mix of them and record this to a keyframe sequence.
Thread: Animation sets tab? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oh ok, so in short they solve no purpose to create/edit animations inside of poser?
I was wondering because the manual said:
"Animation sets allow you to store a series of animation clips that are frequently used in combination." and *"You can also apply animation sets to figures.".
*Unfortunately it does not state how to do this and switching them does not have any noticable effect other than changing the selection but the actual keyframes stay the same...
Its mentioned that the "Attributes" button does something for external python scripts but I was hoping that I might could use them to group keyframes as some sort of alternate to layers.
Thread: Is it possible to modify exporters? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, Poser becomes a bit unresponsive when browsing through keyframes. It looks like this happens when the cache kicks in. Try closing the keyframe window when you export - at least in Poser 8 processing is much faster and without the lockups.
I can't confirm the issue about turning frames into keyframes with the regular export tho. Maybe this "feature" was removed with ver 8.
Thread: ActorByInternalName('rShin:1').Children() does not work | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Hi Phil,
yepp, thats it! With IK disabled I am getting proper results as well. IK definately was the last thing I thought about beeing the cause.
Thank you bunches!
Btw. thanks to your book I'm almost done scripting my own bvh-exporter eventhough beeing a complete Poser and Python rookie. So I guess your book is not that bad! :)
