Once you have the desired texture maps in place and the Iray settings how you want them, you can save them as a Material Preset (See the File menu) Then the next time you want to use it, you can simply load the mesh and double-click the Preset that you saved. In the case of a Character, you could also use the Save as Character Preset which will remember the material settings as well, then you can just load the character with the iray maps and settings in one go. Remember where you save the presets... so you can find them the next time you want to use them!
Thread: What's up with the site here? | Forum: Community Center
I performed a quick analysis on the performance of the site when navigating between various pages and it would appear that there are dozens of resources that are taking between 300 and 800 ms to retrieve from their source (DB or URL).
This is likely a direct symptom of the problems experienced yesterday and once all of those resources have been reloaded into the server cache the site will perform much better.
I would expect that we will see improved performance gradually over the next few days until everything is back to were it was before the crash. IMHO

Clearing the cache and all other browser stored values does allow me to open the pages, but everything is MUCH SLOWER than usual. I have tried the following browsers and they all have the same speed issues: IE 11, Chrome, Edge & Firefox. Is anyone else experiencing these slow loading pages?

I am deeply saddened by this news, to loose such a wonderful talent is a terrible thing, but to loose a kind and generous soul is much worse. My only communication with her was electronic and I did not have the pleasure of ever meeting her, but my heartfelt condolences go to her family and loved ones in the difficult time.

Fixing up an outfit in a modeling program is a good solution, but I just picked up a NEW set of Auto-Fit templates that really help. Check out the following item over at DAZ.
Wear Them All - Autofitting Clones and Clothing Smoothers for Genesis 3 Female(s)
I have used the SY templates while moving through the G1, G2F cycle, but this new one is much better. It is not perfect, but the problem with this specific issue are greatly reduced.

@4222608
Thanks for the update JeniferC! I am very pleased to see these issues being addressed. As a software developer I fully understand and appreciate that when you have your head down solving a problem, you don't have a lot of time to communicate. But after 20 years in the biz, I have learned that open and honest communication ALWAYS wins out over silent, brute force effort.
Food for thought.
These changes along with the others that I have seen over the last week have softened my resolve to leave, I would have been sorry to have lost this community and this resource. So thank you, to you and the rest of team that has been silently brute forcing their way through the list of issues!
Do yourself and the rest of the community a big favor and come up for air at least once a day!
I am also painfully aware that most of the communication that developers get is about PROBLEMS or BUGS, so here is a big "Kudos" for all of the good work that has been done. Hopefully, your 'to-do' list will begin to shrink.

Typically I have visited this site at least 5 times a day since I became a member 3+ years ago. Since the launch of this new site layout, I have stopped visiting the site for the most part, I am checking back every few days to see if things are being fixed, not just talked about. So far I am very pleased to see pages have returned to some areas, unfortunately not all, so thanks for partially addressing that little issue. However, the image size restriction is by far the single largest problem that I have and there seems to be nothing but talk, no indication of action or even the intention of action. Like many others, I am very disappointed that the community was not consulted about such a major change in our ability to upload gallery images.
Shame, I wave my finger at everyone involved in this catastrophic blunder!

I am all for responsive web page design, but my god, this look like the site is in the middle of an epileptic fit. It is hard on the head trying to follow the bouncing items. It doesn't matter where I go in this site, everything is in different sized containers, come on!
The idea was great, it is really too bad the delivery lacked polish. The headers and footers could be scaled down a bit to be sure, I don't think anyone would be bothered by them if they were half the height.
Please, make the containers a consistent size so us poor humans have a chance to look around without getting dizzy.
Just because Bootstrap and CSS make it possible to resize every living thing on the site dynamically, it doesn't mean that you should!
Pick a size and stick to it, PLEASE!

This is a new pain, not a welcome one though. I am experiencing the same problem that everyone in this thread has reported. I will follow the instructions in the last post from KimberlyC.
Now what about the file locker links? I am getting a HTTP 500 (Access Denied) when I try to access my images. I have links to editorial pages that no longer work. Any chance that can be looked into as well?
Thread: Daz3D forum caution when discussing IRay documentation. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I started using DS about 4 years ago, I own Poser 2014 Pro and Reality 4.0. I have been playing around with Iray since it became available and for my money, the product is every bit as stable as Reality, in fact I find DS with IRay easier to use and not very difficult to navigate. Granted, I purchased some of the commercial shaders at the start, simply to learn from, now I am quite comfortable adding the IRay nodes and setting up existing textures to work in IRay, it is really quite simple and no where near as time consuming as setting up textures in Reality. I am looking forward to seeing Paolo's version 4.5 with the 10 times render speeds and that may sway me back to using Reality, but for my time and money, Iray is a great middle ground. I agree that more specific technical documentation is required in order for everyone to fully understand all of the features of Iray and I look forward to seeing what is made available by DS.
This is neither condemnation nor defence of either side in this dispute! The people bashing programmers for being terrible document writers may have a point, in that, explaining the technical intricacies of how a piece of software works in terms that a user can understand is very difficult for most programmers to do. They do not think in user terms, they cannot dumb down their understanding or even verbalize things that they take for granted are already understood.
A truly brilliantly designed piece of software would require no documentation at all. The U.I. would guide the user to one and only correct method of accomplishing the software's intended function. Be careful what you wish for, in this utopian environment, there would be no room for innovation, creative thinking or experimentation.
IMHO
