Alla, I should have said it the first time, but better late than never. I really like your hairstyle. It's your best one yet. And I don't mind your letting off a little steam, either. Everyone of us needs to know where the service is good, and where it is not. By the way, Posermail (www.posermail.com) seems to be offering 100mb of free online space for Poser users. Has anyone tried it? - Jim WThread: My bizland account has ben deleted! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

I, too, had some weird problems. A few of the links would work sometimes and not others. (??!!) I also experienced slow downloads. Maximum speed seemed to be about 1K per second. But I was able to get 3 going at the same time, all at 1K. Maybe this is just a sign of how popular your site is! All-in-all, I very much appreciate all of the work you have done to put up the site. Not only is the content wonderful, but the navigation is better than ever. Thanks for contributing all of this great work. I, for one, am willing to put up with the start-up pains in your site, just to participate in the content. - JimW

Microwarehouse is a big mail-order company in the US. They list Poser 4 in their catalog for US$229, and it should be at their web site (www.warehouse.com). I have used them many times, and have gotten good service from them. They have an office in the Netherlands that may well be able to help. Their phone number in the Netherlands is 020.355.1600. Posr4 is fun. Good luck! - JimWThread: Posing Pairs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Kennect, That makes a lot of sense. I did have the hips selected when I saved the poses (there was no relocation of the bodies, only the hips). But when I tried to re-apply the poses with new characters (also with hips selected), I got the ramdom orientation. Strange that I never have had this problem with Schlabber's paired poses. Does he have some secret? - Jim W

And if price is an object, there are some fine textures and characters in the Poser Free Stuff part of Renderosity-- and at many of the contributors's sites, too. So you can download lots of things for the figures included the Poser 4 package, and see how they work. You can make some good images just with these. Then when the checkbook has recovered sometime later, you can add Zygotes figures and the clothes that go with them. - JimW

RAM Doubler was great for keeping multiple programs running simultaneously, particularly when the programs were not too big. Doubling real physical memory, as inyerface suggests, works well; I even had some success with tripling real physical memory. The issue was to keep the total of the RAM used by the operating system plus the RAM allocated to any one application to less than the total real physical RAM; otherwise performance degrades dramatically. The limit comes in that RAM Doubler maxes out at 256meg Virtual RAM. And Poser really likes much more than the 80-90meg that are left over after allocating inside 128meb real physical RAM after OS9 takes its chunk. So adding real physical RAM is the only practical way to get lots of memory for Poser. I allocate 192meg to Poser, and it seems to perform well enough for my relatively simple needs. - JimW
