Thread: PoserComics | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Brian Haberlin (http://www.haberlin.com) has done a pretty good bit of comic work with Poser. He did a special edition of Vampi a few years ago and has done some covers for Hulk, Iron Man, etc. There is actually a case study about him and his work on the Curious Labs site -- http://www.curiouslabs.com/article/articleview/62/1/374/. He posts things in the gallery here on occasion -- http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?ByArtist=Y&Artist=bjhaber. I got the chance to talk to him for a while at Wizard World in Chicago a couple months ago. He said there is a lot of demand for comics done in Poser because of the look you can achieve with it. He is apparently training the guys in his studio so they can begin using it as well. I'm actually in the process of doing artwork for a comic of my own that I'm hoping to submit to Image in the spring. I'm doing the initial art in Poser and then manipulating it fairly heavily in Photoshop to get the effect I want. I'm still getting up to speed on everything but it seems to be going well so far. Jon

Thanks -- that's pretty close. I just need something a little more detailed and realistic. You know, it doesn't even necessarily have to be a native Poser prop. I'm fine if it's an OBJ or something from another program that I can import. I'm just trying to find something as photo-real as possible.

OK, that makes sense. I've been surviving off of tutorials and forums just so I can get up to speed in Poser, and I'm still trying to get a good grasp of what all those settings do. Anyway, I live and breathe Photoshop at work, so I'm definitely much more comfortable tweaking things there. Thanks for the help!

You're right -- that looks much better! But don't you have to use texture filtering for most hair textures to look right?

It's set at the default for production quality -- 4096. That particular texture is smaller than that -- something like 4000x3000.

You're right...it is a bit exaggerated in my image. I posted a larger render on purpose so that the problem would be more visible, but it does still show up in much smaller renders. Also, I'm saving as TIF. I do web design for a living, so I know plenty about JPG compression artifacts :) Thanks, Jon
