Thread: DS just don't werk! - And a BIG pdf typo! | Forum: DAZ|Studio
as an fyi on the vid cards, i'm currently running DS on a duron 700 w/ an ATI all-in-wonder pro & 512 mb, shich seems to work just fine. i think i paid $200 cash for my vid card 3 yrs back. i just recently (as of about 3-4 mos. ago) paid the same for an ATI 8500DV. the ati 7000 and higher cards cost more but seem more geared towards the gaming end of things - if that's what your interested in. a new(er) system sounds like a better choice if you plan to do much in the way of graphics and such.
Thread: I have searched the DAZ site for hours now but I cant find this app? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
don't remember who started a similar thread about the login/password thing, but if you do try the cut and paste method be sure to delete the space after you paste in the login and password. hope this helps! kevin

here's a question for ya. how many people do you know actually have multiproc systems? what are such systems typically best at, besides costing a fortune in parts? the only individual i personnally know who has such a system (present company excluded) uses it for some high end stuff and admittedly very little of that. it would be nice to support the higher end stuff, but i would forsee that as a "pro" version of the software, or any given software for that matter. i personally don't have a need or use for a dual proc system - yet. and when i do, that will probably be for some sort of networking tasks similar to hosting an on-line game environment, hosting a high-end multimedia website, or some other hi-demand job.
Thread: Another delay (if I read correctly) | Forum: DAZ|Studio
as far as the xp upgrade, first, i wouldn't bother with xp to start with, and 2nd, its always better to start with a fresh install. haven't tried it yet, but i understand that the upgrade soft for win2k will work so long as you have a full version 98 to work off of. with daz studio being delayed more, that means that i now have more time to finish saving $$ for the last few parts for my 2nd system. besides, i think the better the system, the better the software performance. kt

hate to tell you this, but inquiring minds will have to wait a little while longer while daz finishes up the spit shine. i've been waiting for the past 2+ weeks to get any sort of glimpse of a product. right there waiting with ya! kt
Thread: CRC-error: zipping *.png (Poser 5) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
the only possible thing that i can think of has to do with using a removable disk of some sort - like a floppy or a zip disk. sometimes files don't get copied correctly, hence the error. if you are doing the whole zip/unzip process on the same hard drive, then it quite possibly is your zipping utility.
Thread: poser 5 question - don't know if this has been asked yet | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
okay, that helps. here's another curve ball. is it possible to export a bryce scene as an obj to use as a bacground in p5? or am i getting too technical? also (as a shortcut), what's the link for DAZ studio?
Thread: Poser 4 or 5? Newbie questions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
amazon.com has p5 for something like $139. i was pricing it myself and had asked a similar question. haven't tried any other software vendor, but amazon seems pretty reasonable kt

thank you both. i kinda figured that p5 would incorporate pp, seemed logical from a software dev standpoint, but wanted to hear from someone else just to be sure. what i had planned on doing was using p5 strictly for animal/human (... i see the semantics on this one coming) modeling and importing into bryce. call me insane ... jax, do you know how well poser exports to bryce? i've heard that it's possible, in a round about way. any insight? kt
Thread: I'm new i need some help plz | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
okay, i'll step up for the bryce spot. i recently bought bryce (like with in the past couple of months) and have trouble believing that it will do clothing of any sort. i'll admit that i haven't had much time to tinker with bryce yet, and haven't bought poser yet, but i would defintely say that poser is the program to stick with as far as anything character modeling is concerned. it is possible to import stuff (general term) into bryce and maybe texture it there as well. i would also offer that carrera, et. al. is a wise recommendation for props generation. (currently have amapi 5.1 that seems to be good for such.) hope this helps kt
Thread: Another question about Poser 5 Performance or non performance! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
with regards to the hard drive thing, also try keeping your c: drive as much under half full as possible. 2 friends of mine who have taken MCSE classes (& in "the biz" so to speak) have told me that with regards to any win os, the system seems to work better and faster w/ a hard drive less than half full - that is, the drive that the os is installed on. has something to do w/ access times and the swap file that all os's use. if interested in what a swap file is, send me a mail.
