Yes, I initialized V4.2 when I installed her. I clearly remember I did. I also initialized A4. My Poser 8 installation is in Program Files. I have no clue what UAC is. And yes, DAZ folks in main Poser Runtime.

"You know what? If you don't like the copy protection system they've got, fine. DON'T BUY THE SOFTWARE." Isn't that what most people that don't like the copy protection are stating? That they won't buy it? As a matter of fact, stuff like this can take a company out of business. Sure, Microsoft is big and mighty and all that crap, but how long do you think the customers are gonna let companies f-word them in the ass? There will come a time when Joe Average will realize that he's been played and go like: "Hey! What the...?" and stop buying software from those companies. And what is CL doing? Same thing as Microsoft: treating their customers like dirt. Don't you guys remember what happened to Wordstar? Same thing. I just finished reading this thread and it's innimaginable the amount of people that are against the implementation of such tactics. CL, you KNOW you're gonna loose more customers than you're gonna gain with this, right? For trying to make a few extra bucks, you guys are gonna loose that much more. I, for one, came to the conclusion that if Poser 4 works fine for me, what do I need Poser 5 for, if it's gonna bring all that extra hassle? Hey, I can do hair and clothing in 3D Max (clothing with a FREE plugin called SimCloth), so why bother with Poser 5? That's one shiny nail you're hammering into your coffin, CL.

Rob, no problem there. I thought you were teasing me. And about the codes for P5, things like that, instead of protecting their software (and you all know people are STILL gonna crack it) it will make people mad (as we are witnessing here) and most of them (including me, I believe) will NOT buy the product. See, I was going to buy WinXP, but when I heard you had to ask for Microsoft's permission to install the software, I said "to hell with it." I COULD get a cracked version of WinXP, but that's not the point. The point is I will not use that software, legally bought or pirated, of a company that will do stuff like this. And I'm still in Win98 and I will NOT upgrade! Thing is, I really, really like Poser, and Poser 5 looks extremely good with the hair and cloth thingies...but I don't feel like buying it now that I see it works with that "new code for every install" rule. Hell, what if people's fears come true and Curious Labs closes shop in, say, two years? What if people have to reformat their drives and they wanna install P5 again, and it asks for a new code? What then? How many angry, loyal, honest, paying customers are gonna feel cheated then? If you want to put a code, well, put a code. But a new code every time you gotta install the software? That's ridiculous!

And when is it out? And how come people say you have to "ask permission" to Curious Labs to use it? Are you guys going the Microsoft way? Hell, that's why I haven't even upgraded from Win98!

To work on PSP with layers, when you put a new layer and you wanna see the one below, use the Multiply option on the new layer. This lets you color the layer and you can still see what's underneath (except if you color it black, that is).

Hey, I have Win98 and I run Poser and 3D Studio Max in there. Sure, the rendering times are endless, but it has yet to crash on me.
