Ok! After I selected about 170 additional polygons they all went over and I was able to separate both sandals and 2 different props!
Now all is well and thanks for the help EldritchCellar!

It is not completely red.. There are a few polygons left out so I might be back to square one for the first part which was how to get all of the polys onto the left sandal I believe.
EDIT: Ok, so now I think I have to select the Polys that were not initially selected by Poser in order to make them complete... I'm getting closer now I believe. :)

If the left sandal is entirely red it is grouped. Click create prop. The grouping tool can be a little counterintuitive until you get used to it. I didn't miss a step. Your statement indicates you didn't understand my directions.
Good luck to you. You're welcome.
That mostly worked but a few polygons did not cross over. Did I do something wrong?

Import the shoes.
Scale and position as desired.
Open grouping tool
Click New Group button, name group rFoot (or RightShoe, doesn't matter at this point).
With this new group selected in the tool dropdown, add all polys of the right shoe (+ button active) by either rectangular marquee selecting all polys or clicking individual polys of the right shoe. Selected polys are solid red. Making marquee selections with the element display style: Wireframe will "draw through" and select polys on opposing sides of the surface (usually). - (minus) tool similarly will remove selected polys from the group. If materials are conveniently assigned (or pre existing groups), those tagged polys may be quickly assigned via Add Material/Add Group to the new group. You'll see some other options such as invert etc. You might want to become familiar with their usage.
Repeat process for left shoe (create new named group, etc.)
Once you have all polys of the object assigned to new right and left groups, select the right group from dropdown. Click create prop. Repeat for left group. Or if there wasn't a pre existing group in the object before you created the Right and Left group (unlikely), simply click Spawn Props.
You now should have a Right Shoe object, a Left Shoe object, and the original whole model in your scene hierarchy.
In the Group Tool I named the left sandal to (left sandal). I was able to select the left sandal and make it Red like you said to do. But when I try to Add Group it asks me to Select A Group.. I don't know what group to add it to.. I tried adding it to her left foot with no resuls. There's a step or instruction missing here. I was also able to make it dark grey and have the right sandal Red too and try the results over with the left sandal by adding the group to her right foot once again with no tangible results.

What version of Poser?
All Poser versions can do that in the setup room. From PoserPro 2014 onwards, the fitting room can do the same thing I'm using PoserPro2012

"Or better yet, how to break them up into a pair of Cr2 figure files that would conform perfectly to V4?"
Quite a loaded statement right there. Create a perfectly functioning conformer for v4's 0 foot joint positions out of a model not purpose built for that. Rigging shoes that work well with v4's feet can be a task. Do you have a modeler? Do you know how to use the grouping tool? Have you ever changed an objects center/origin with the joint editor? Familiar at all with the set up room or transferring a donor rig to a grouped mesh? All of these questions are something you might want to consider before embarking on this path. Even if the answer is a confident "yes" to these questions, you're likely to run into many snags along the way. Can't really recommend any tutorials unless you are somewhat familiar with the concepts above. I would start with familiarizing yourself with the grouping tool. If you don't use an external modeler you'll need it to break the .obj into 2 objects, regardless of the .cr2 or parented props choice.
What about just breaking the Obj file into two separate shoes? I'd settle for that too. I've been reading up on the PHI builder from Roy Riggs.. So I imagine that if I can at least get them broken into two separate shoes (left, right) I could at least parent them to her feet and I'd be more than half way towards my goal, perhaps even stopping right there.

Hmm, now I'm wondering if there's some place that I can beg for the V3 Elven Strapped zip file.. It was free after all.

Rats! That would explain why my searches haven't turned anything up.
Thanks for the info.
Thread: Question about exporting a Facegen OBJ to work in poser. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I haven't made any progress so far. But next week I'm going to try and get a hold of a Wiz that I know over at Smith Micro. That is if the terrible tech support (if you can call them that) will put me through to him. They typically like to tell people that you have a training issue, yet they really don't offer any training there so they lead you to a brick wall and then say "Have a nice day". I think everyone here has gotten their run around before.
The day a good company buys Poser from Smith Micro will be the day that us Poser fans will come back out of that dark cloud that we are under right now that leaves us stewing with problems like this.
I'll let you all know what happens.

Oh, and here is the link to the users manual on using their Customizer:
http://facegen.com/customizer_help.htm
There you will find instructions on how to carry out the proceedure.

Hey guys, I have great news! Or I hope so.
I'm receiving the FaceGen free trial Customizer tool from them. You can get it from them for free by sending a request at: support@facegen.com .
I encourage all of you guys to download this so that we can work out the problem of sending a obj from FaceGen over to Poser.
I was wondering if we could make the a team effort? If so I have a FG obj that we all could share in order to reach the common goal of cracking the conversion problem. The goal would be to try and make it work for a V4.2 model.
Does anyone want to try and help?

Hello folks and I thank Bob for asking this question. I think these guys have pretty much said it's not possible because the error message that you get is: Target geometry has wrong number of vertices.
It is just too bad that the team at FacGen got lazy. It looks like there are a lot of people waiting for them to pick up the ball and make their obj files Poser friendly.
Thanks for the repsonses people.
