Quote - What prior modeler where you using? Presently I use mostly Hexagon3D and on occassion Wings3D. I found the toolset in RaySupreme was lacking in comparison to Hexagon3D...
PS: Looking at your user stats it appears you just joined today to make this post... Hmmm, I'm a little suspicious... ;-)
kenmo, most of my previous 3D experiences were with LightWave and CINEMA 4D at a previous employer. But I did very little modeling, mostly animating and rendering with purchased models or CAD/industrial models created in-house by others.
I went in different directions professionally but I've always loved 3D and wanted to do more, like getting good at modeling. Since I'm funding this hobby myself now, that's the main reason RaySupreme caught my eye. The price is right and it's a complete package, not just a modeler.
I did look at Hexagon but it looks like it hasn't been updated in about five years, to the point that they warned of stability issues on Intel Macs. So I kept looking.

Thanks. I didn't find the answer in their Knowledgebase, and I am waiting for a reply from them. Oh well.... :-)

Also, would someone be willing to post some effective depth-of-field settings? I get the same kind of scattered dots there too.
Thanks,
Mark

It definitely does work on animations too. I just didn't want to go overboard with commercial posts and get anyone mad!

Sometimes banners are good, like when they inform you of a great deal on software or something like that.

Great job! This could give new meaning to "X" files. You can also "fake" the lip shape by changing the shape of the lipstick on the texture map.

This site claims to have it for $10.95 (US). It is a great program for creating BVH.Thread: Need Help with Hair for Michael | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks. I'll try the falloff settings when I get back home. What range do you recommend? I'm not sure why this one gave me so much trouble -- I've done okay with Vicki, etc.

Sorry for the confusion. The texture did come with the hair. I just wasn't getting the best possible results with it.

Thanks! I figured the transmaps were the key. Yes, I did get the texture with the hair. I also tried using one of Catharina's, which I know should give stellar results. I didn't get a transmap with hers, so I assume I should use the one that came with Michael's hair? One of the problems was that the stray hair strands kept looking very unrealistic and plastic. I've seen some people's renderings without those, but I can't see any morphs to eliminate them. Maybe the transparency is the key there too -- I'll spend some time experimenting.

If you can still find MetaCreations' "Dance Studio" program, you can generate tons of realistic dance moves in BVH format. Although the program was intended to be a kids' toy, it outputs very good results. I've seen it online for about $11.00.

You can definitely do realistic hair in Poser. Have you ever seen any of Kozaburo's work? It's very realistic. Or how about Catharina Przezak's amazing textures? (And the list could go on and on...there are lots of people providing the necessary parts to do great hair.) And, if you don't need to animate your results, you can use Paul Hafeli's method of mapping an actual photo of hair to a square, putting it in position on your figure, then using a transparency map to make it look totally real. I think many people underestimate Poser's capabilities.

The version number message probably means that you are opening a file or adding an item that was created with the latest Poser patch.
