Hey man, not MY site. There's a lotta pitchers there and one of em says, "Free Model". Sure, that leads somwhere (link), but I didn`t jot that down. Page full of pictures anyway, interesting enough. A man should be able to wait a minute :) Pete

Huolong - wouldnt know what exactly you mean by "suck" - at that xxx-site I guess :) Aha, so it has some good models. So they have good models and even sucking xxx-stuff! Let us be honest, all Poser characters, P3, P4, are (didnt I read exactly that at this forum a coupla months ago?) maybe up to somewhere between cartoon and "mannequin" level - Zy God or not. Poser aint no Lightwave and no Character Studio either - but it is a nice-and-easy app, which is why we like it - so let
s not get religious (mormon?) about little details man. Ill try and check with C-Force what will happen to that xxx-stuff (maybe they just want to get rid of it) but I know they have some very nice new structures with several more body parts (better bending)- ironically, they call them "Poser 5 figures". Compatible ? Hard to say - poor Poser 4.03... They made for mass in the past, they want to make for class in the future, words - but sounds good to me. Well I think this is all a partial misunderstanding anyway - Cacheforce model for at least 3 or 4 apps, one of them (maybe the least important) being Poser - now that is of course bound to get complicated. Aiming to have characters available for all sorts of animation work etc. - look at their www.3-d-models.com, pretty fresh one. Why talk these guys into the ground? They are a welcome addition - well the 170 didn
t hurt me for sure... certainly worth the price, but then I also had a mountainous update this summer. Now please, enough of that Cacheforce vs. Zygote nonsense - cant you see that they are just 2 different sides of the medal, not opposed at all ? Over. More important: what IS behind all the changes from Meta to err... ah yes, Curious Labs and Egyisys (I keep confusing the names)? Does anybody know who REALLY owns Poser now? Got the impression it is owned by 3 different parties, correct me if I
m wrong, and one of them may well be situated in Utah - if you catch my drift, there. Will they fare better than Metacreations did ? Oh how often I have advised collegues to buy Poser instead of CStudio etc. as an addon for Max or Lightwave... now I read Zygote have the MC version for sale, limited number, what, 250 bucks ? Good price ! Not that I paid any more a year ago... But they dontt sell a whole lot it seems and to me that is a pity. Poser (all-over) needs to become more attractive to the professional crowd. But I am running adrift - anybody who knows more about the inside/ownership stuff, come out into the open - I would just love to hear... I do love Poser, it
s among the most wonderful 3d apps ! Trying to keep a sense of perspective, Pete

One more opinion about this... scarab seems to be a bit single-minded, whatever the reason :) I didnt find the Cacheforce collection "cartoon-like", with the exception of those figures resembling cartoon heroes ("Witchblade" character etc.) - Some of them (3 Roman soldiers) are pretty realistic and anyway what about the seventy figure - 200 prop - 170 bucks deal ? There isn
t an "idiotic grin", either and their joints sometimes bend better than Zygotes... they don
t have speech morphs yet, true (to be updated online soon they say) and then Cacheforce doesn`t seem to spend much time on the textures - well me, I like to paint my own anyway, so much for that. Max/Deesponas : beware, he is supposed to be highly illegal. Grapevine says they (Viewpoint) are trying to get his ass since a year or so, what keeps them is just spanish legislation or whatever - anyway, the models look swell, but they are really ment for Max - if you convert them you wil find them hard to handle in other apps because they are a bit overtextured textures can be pretty Max-specific. Still, I would have bought the collection if it wasnt for that legal issue. Viewpoint really DID buy the stuff from REM, that I know for sure.

Oh, some German company pretty unknown in the market. Egisys (had to search around a bit), find them at what will be either www.egisys.com or egisys.de, probably. Hard to get anything outta them. Also, it doesnt make sense.I recall when Commodore died (remember the "Amiga"?) the company got bought, resold, assets were split and bought again + again and several 100.000 users kept hoping for a revival for years... never happened. Well, lets see.

Yeah... what I heard is that the new owners are experiencing more troubles of the financial sort than old Metacreations ever nightmared about. Technical problems, too. How to fix the gap between expensive programers and "cheap" customers (let`s be honest, 250 bucks IS cheap for a soft like Poser) ? That they bought the soft for purposes unknown to the common user - maybe they want to get into their home market and the german software market is a market where only the very cheapest stuff ill ever be bought... Lets face it, we might be in for a downgrade - and I would L.O.V.E. to hear somebody prove these theses wrong, believe me ! But not one of the "Hallelujah" crowd if you please... Concerned, Pete (PS dont tell me not to worry - sure there will be a 5 or a 4.3 - but what will it really be ?)
Thread: Poser Mac/PC problem Nr. 60391 (sorry but...) | Forum: Poser Technical
Hi thanks - no THIS guy isnt french, hes british. he has almost 400 mbs of ram... some of the models are of course a bit bulkier than others, so I had also started thinking of that... "poser suggests a memory problem when an obj cannot be opened which is stupid because my mac is very powerful with lots of ram allocated to poser application" - his words. But it DOES suggest a... Ill be back :)
Thread: Poser Mac/PC problem Nr. 60391 (sorry but...) | Forum: Poser Technical
Hi Martin - there it is. Apparently I sent my friend a whole lotta figures and some of them load while others wont - converter or not. They all work okay on the PC... I think we should find the reason. There isnt anything exotic about the cr2s either... my friend uses a Mac with 400 mb ram and the latest Os, all okay. Can I send you a CD ? This might be interesting - last horizon maybe. Cheers, Pete (Happy Easter:(

Aha - I recall the ".info" files the Amiga creates an PC users dont know what to do with... I used to torture Wintel users by sending them gif files with the ending ".jpg"...:) Okay, that should be it then. Please keep up the good work - I will pass on your site link. I was asking about passing it on because i had bad experiences with broken links especially to smaller private pages. BTW do you have some good documentation ? I hope so. I read only good remarks about your soft at the forums, but apparantly there are people who have trouble handling it - will tell them to download the latest vesrion - thx again, Pete.
Thread: Poser Mac/PC problem Nr. 60391 (sorry but...) | Forum: Poser Technical
Hey, that sounds okay to me - he also said that if he clicks the file on his desktop or whatever, Mac tries to open it as a text file - which also works (he can read it :) ... so right now I guess he isnt using Macconverter the right way, huh ? Ill write him - thanks again. But just out of interest - what the heck has to be changed in the cr2 then ? I fired up a Mac cr2 in my PC and no problem, it also laoded the geometry - french version or not. Where does the apple drop - I use a PC because I burned my fingers with the Amiga (remember)... thats the reason why I became a bit religious about compatibility... BTW if you should one day want to email me, my old one wont work - Im at 21stcentury@teleline.es Next and maybe final question - is it okay if I pass on Macconverter to other people or do I have to tell them to download it there and there ? And where ? Cheerio, Pete.
Thread: Poser Mac/PC problem Nr. 60391 (sorry but...) | Forum: Poser Technical
Hey Martin - sure. That cr2 is correctly typed. meaning it doesnt have any typos (that would also stall my PC) - and it works here. Now I didnt expect any thumbnail to show on his machine - but the shrugging figure that shows on the PC WHEN you have both cr2 and obj at the right place BUT no rsr. See what I mean ? Stuff is tested, but he gets nothing ? He also keeps telling me Macconverter wouldnt touch any library files - that is why I am trying to solve this problem anyway. I cant really check on this right now as Microsofts new MacEmulator TM is still a buggy beta :) So I thought before I told him he was completely wrong... Do you want to check the file maybe ? Thanx, Pete
Thread: Mail from METACREATIONS.COM: "Creativity Magazine" ???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well I guess its natural theyre experiencing some confusion now... wondering how they want to keep up with the updating and tech support anyway ?! I mean, h.o.w ? As we can see, they always worked with a tight time limit and now they lost lots of good people... does anyone know how many Poser users are actually about ? We may be 10000 or so at the forum, but... oh well, just thinking. Pete

Shes nice, how does she move ? No sir, cant sell her just like that. Have to ask Metacreations first - geometries are their copyright. Havent the slightest what they will tell ya... But you sure can give her away, har, har... BTW does somebody know if anythings wrong with the Zygote server ? Are they doen, do I need a password or a knit tie or am I just being daft again ?
