My user base is waaay smaller than yours, but I stopped doing CS1 and 2 a while ago, and put a note saying to contact me if you want these versions. I've never gotten a request. Markd

The last glitch I am working on is in SuperMixer Complex- if you choose a smooth blend and have overlapping influence ranges you get a black band. I have a fix, but I'm checking with Eovia to make sure it is the right way to go. Markd

You just need to drop over to DCG and download the CS4 version- Treat it as a new install, and it will take the same password. take the v3 copy out first. markd

The difficult part of translucency is determining where the object is thick vs thin- the shaders just don't have that kind of info available to them. SSS suffers from a similar issue- when a shader is called, it is called for a single point. You have no access to the points around you (to determine if they should be scattering light into your point). I'm playing with stuff to try and address some of these issues, as is Eric- see his message about the edge shaders which could help control translucency- if you have both, combine it with Lit. markd

I like this forum too- I see a few issues that I think prevent it from being the "main" forum- ie getting critical mass. 1) Perception of being Poser-centric 2) Some find the advertising offensive 3) No email option 4) Threads are not marked to indicate new messages 1 and 2 can't easily be changed as they are personal. 3- I'm waiting to see how Ringo pulls this one off. There are still quite a few members at Yahoo that will only be dragged kicking and screamming into the 90's. ;-) Closing the yahoo group might be the only way. 4- This one is a personal peeve. Am I missing something here? I've never found a good way to browse the newest posts. Topics, yes, but not posts. If the traffic were higher, I have a feeling I'd get frustrated.

Offhand, CS isn't really the right app to try and do this. . . However, you could load all your images into textures, apply them to various objects, and run the objects across the screen, or fade them in and out, or fly by them as billboards. . . I've thought about putting 6 images on a cube and rotating it. . . you could also animate a single shader with multiple textures. With a deep tree you could do tons of images.
