Hi ockham, Thanks a lot! That's exactly the problem!
Having both hands checked now i managed to connect them to the parent's hands! many thanks!
So if one wanna parent an object to another, the parent'ee must always have an IK checked... i.e. in this case, the kid's head cannot be parented to his mom's hand unless his head is set manually as an IK chain, right?

Hi hborre, thanks for your reply!
yes i did, that's how i used to parent figures.
While i could parent the whole figure (the child model as a whole) to his mom hand, I cannot parent a particular part of the child (say, his hand) to another ojbect. The susal drag and drop does not shows any highlighted part when i moved it.
Have i locked something by accident or it cannot be done in this way..?
Many thanks again!

Hi Hborre,
Yup just checked, I am saving with external binary morphs active. Should i unclick it and try again? (gonna take sometimes until i get the pose right again :S)
Â
And I am using Poser Pro 2010.
Â
Thanks!

hmm the IK'ed part can move but the distorted part is still distorted.
i would assume it's really due to the morph. Tried applied a morph to my V4 and having the same issue :(

Thread: Is it possible to apply "inverse kinematics" into other part of the model? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Many thanks for the quick reply guys!
I've tried the IK-Chains method and the lock actor method, both solve the issue to a certain extend.
IK-Chains
With this method i've selected the waist as goal and twist my actor a bit. It does serve the purpose (i.e. upper body not moving and lower body starting from hip moves arround). However it seems that the limitation of the joints are somehow not followed.. e.g. when i pull or rotate the hip, the waist will somehow be distorted... wonder if there's any limit to apply on this one?
Lock Actor
This does lock my whole model lol.. don't know if it can lock only a certain part of the body..
Â
In short, i think my question can be: can the hip be somehow removed as a center of the body? (i am thinking if i can set it to the head / chest, this might work.. but does that mean i need to rework the hierarchy editor ? seems a bit heavy .. ;)
any thoughts? :)
Â
Thanks!

oh i see..
the model i was referring to was actually this:
hxxp://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=80661&vendor=-supernova-
not sure if i am allowed to post a link though... sry if it's not allowed..
anyhow, since it does seems to be not too easy to find, i've contacted the vendor as well, hopefully there'll be answer soon :)

Thx for the quick reply!
Ya... been googling for a while but nothing similar comes up...
I've had a check on Nirvy's store but seems the model are not the same... although they (supernova and nirvy have some co-productions from time to time)
still in searching mode.. :)

Thread: Will a daul graphic card system speed up the rendering? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
aww ok.. so probably i should spend more on the core7 and Ram instead of the state of art graphic cards ..
in addition, will harddisk speed matters much? e.g. will raid be better?
thanks for the input sam!
Thread: How to create a character with 4 arms? :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the valuable input! :)
Yup hiding the remaining parts came to my mind but when I need to do some action pose, it doesn't seems to work effectively.
I like the idea of the "anatomically-correct" four-armed male approach! But I am not quite sure how to have it done.
Is there a way to .. hmm, say, "cut" the part above the chest of one character, and then "paste" it on top on the chest of other character? (wow in that case we can even make a 8 arms spiderman! :D)
and thanks for the link hborre, that character just look awesome!
Cheers

Thanks for the reply guys.
Ya Yannek has a bunch of renderings that are being used for the pictures in the official products . Too bad it's a custom morph that cannot be purchased though :)
