Rutra, thank you so much, it seems that the spotlight has done the trick. All the other settings I had played around with and was hoping or expecting the sun light to do the job, but its the spotlight that creates those very spectacular rays.
Its so simple I am kicking myself for not trying it before posting. On the up side I got a look at your work which I may otherwise would not have, so I won twice in the end.
Thanks again, and if its 2009 where you are, Happy New Year!!

Thats perfect, if you are willing to share it would be a great place for me to start playing. I want my scene to be more into the sun rather than an oblique, but it looks like your scene has what I am looking for as far as atmosphere and lighting goes.
I would also like to compliment you on the scene... its very good..
Thanks for replying.

Or you could export the conforming dress/skirt as an .obj file, then re-import it and parent it to the figure and clothify it, then let Posers cloth simulator do the rest.
It doesnt work for all conforming clothes, but it does for some and the results are very good.

So is your hair a prop and if so can it be clothified???? thats what I am talking about :D

I dont have that hair so cant try it, but maybe you could try and clothify it? you may get lucky and it works, then allyou need to tackle is the textures.
Thread: Cloth animation question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the input, I will have to do a little more experimenting.
I wonder if you could expand on "growing the cloth"? So far the obj files have all previously been conforming clothes that I have exported as obj and then re-imported. This has resulted in imported obj props that have needed to be resized and repositoned to V4, and then clothified.
If I understand what you are proposing is to set the start pose for the animation and conform the clothing and then export? rather than the traditional exporting at the zero pose?
thanks again for the replies.

I have the same issue, seems there are three ways to do this in Poser.
First, learn how to use Posers hair room, its a bit like learning to hair style, I think once you have learnt this ist will be the best way, cant comment on how it looks as I havent started on it yet.
Second, use the morph/control handles of conforming hair, I think this would be hard to make look realistic and would indeed be very time consuming, I havent tried this as I just dont have the stomach for it.
Third, I have heard of people trying to clothify some conforming hair (in the same way as you can turn conforming clothing into dynamic clothing). I havent tried this, and my bet is that it will be a chore, but you may get lucky.

Klebnor, I have used Carrara but I dont get on with the way Carrara renders some of the Poser textures/materials... makes em look kinda grainy. I may revisit it sometime.

Thats odd I must say, I have done quite a few imports of poser models into Vue and never had a problem.
I would make sure that your poser model is ready and complete in Poser then save the file, make sure you dont have any unecessary props or figures in the scene. Then it should import into Vue just fine.

LOL it never ceases to amaze me how naked women can bring out hidden talents!
Great use of photographic backgrounds and good job on matching the lighting to the backgrounds....

OK test animation works a treat, havent tried hands yet but everythng else translates exactly, in that whatever the low-rez model is doing the exported BVH file makes the high rez V4.2 do exactly the same.
Problem solved, nice smooth scrub line without any lag or fram skipping whilst working on the low rez model greatly aids in tuning the animations, then once its all done export to BVH, delete the low rez model, load the high rez model and import the BVH.
Thanks again Nightfall!!

Nightfall, THANK YOU!!
I havent tried animating the low rez model and then export/import the BVH to the hi res model, but it looks like it will work...
