So what is the best way to create new original human models that I can freely distribute without any restrictions? Is Poser not the correct path forward? The reason you can't redistribute the obj files is that they are copyrighted by someone else. In Poser, you don't create new models. You use models others created. If you're giving away someone else's work that they are trying to sell, what incentive does anyone have for buying it from the original creator? ODF created Antonia so he has the ability to allow redistribution of her. As far as the other sites you mentioned, make sure you check their licenses as I'm not sure they allow redistribution.

Thanks for the offer, I may take it up. Is there any software that allows me to generate 3D human models, export them to glTF or obj and freely distribute the model file? I know it's definitely possible cause I see many 3D models available to buy on sites like SketupFactory, Turbosquid, etc. I asked the devs of Human Generator Ultimate and got the same response ( Can't redistribute exported .fbx file). For completeness, you can actually use and redistribute Antonia and the clothes I made for her (but not the texture she comes with) freely with attribution: Antonia Polygon 1.3 Standalone Figure
I am not aware of any male Poser figures that are freely distributable, but I imagine one could morph Antonia into a male shape if one so desired.

What I plan on doing is loading the models in A-frame and animating it so depending on what attacks and defense the challenger and opponent choose the models "act it out" and at the end a winner is declared.
Hi,
I have an open source project that I would like to use Poser to render 3d human models. The models would be distributed in the repository as part of the source code. Therefore, I have a few questions:
Is Poser the ideal choice for my project?
That would be hard to say. It would be doable. There is a free trial you can use to see if it will work for you. What you link to below can be done in Poser.
Am I allowed to distribute the .obj file if I purchase a license?
No, you can't distribute the .obj files that come with Poser. You can distribute any videos or images you make.
Is Poser easy to use?
Again, this is difficult to answer. Some people take to poser quickly while others struggle. Most 3D software has a learning curve.
Are there any discounts for non-commercial/open source projects?
No, there isn't a discount for that.
Example of my goal that I would like to accomplish.
Thanks
