Thread: Quickie Survey: What's Your Goto Figure in Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
To be quite honest:
I still use V4 (in it's Sasha-16 form).
For me, that's all I need. So why learn another figure? Everything I need can be done, and as someone said before, there's a "metric ton of content available for V4", including textures, textures, and more textures.
Most "characters" I have, I only bought for the sake of getting the textures.
And with Poser's "Magic Wand" called the "Morph Brush" I can do anything I want to create custom characters and morphs. Among other features, this tool alone is the one that stops me from migrating to the competition!!
Poser has so many great features that are known and used by so few people.
Well then:
So WHY should use another figure (let alone another program)?

Peter
Thread: Quickie Survey: What's Your Goto Figure in Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not.
V4 still is figure with the most content available, and which most people already have in their runtimes, Easy to use, without the need to have to jump though innumerable hoops just to get the figure wear a basic a pantie. Let alone a dress!
With all the drawbacks of conforming clothes, the way Poser handles dynamic clothing is an absolute show.stopper for anyone new to Poser. Why not have a look at "the other program" to learn how this could be handled?
I for one, will stick to "conforming", or (if I come across a piece of dynamic cloth - which is basically a simple prop), I' ll try to convert the prop to a conforming figure because it's so much easier to handle, compared to endless simulations ran from "guess-what-this-value-does" interfaces.
And now you wonder why people not jump the "new- & shining figures" bandwagon - with "clothing" that in 80% of the time they may have to guess obscure values in the Cloth Room and run endless simulations all day long just to get a half-way decent render at the end of the week?
Say, in which reality do YOU people live in???
Think about it!

Thread: What ever happened to Dr. Geep? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That's correct.
But wouldn't an simple hyperlink be much more intuitive??
Or is this company "Bondware" - which advertises to create web sites - unable to make such a tiny change in a mere forum?

!!! BUMP !!!
Still watching this thread with baited breath.
This looks as promising as ever since 3dcheapskate gave us his great morphing book rows!
Without creative minds like him, Poser would be... well ... somewhat ... sorry!

One thing I don't understand:
Why the dickens isn't there a link in any of these countles sub-sub-subforums to make you:
Remember, this is 2020, and the technique of HTML_LINKS isn't really new today anymore.
Why not use it???

Thank you for helping me out!
In fact (as I experienced it) you only need the V4.2 base and the V4.2 Morphs++ (which now seem to be renamed to "Shapes++" for no obvious reason). Everything else is optional only, but not needed for the figure to work.
Once you have Sasha-16 installed, look for the other options that are supported by the figure. It comes with a couple of premade installers which you can run straight from the setup folders,. From what I've experienced, any other injections made for V4 can also be applied.
Remember, it's just V4 again, but with a big lot of improvements.

Thread: Poser camera to real world focal length? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Maybe it's just me? But a "Poser" focal length of 35mm just looks "off" to me, especially in closeups on the face. Having used an analogue SLR camera for the last 40 years, I just "feel" that the Poser FL values are far more closer to what I would get in my old (antique?) Pentax camera. So I still use the standard:
and to my eye the resulting renders look realistic enough compared with what I would expect from a 35 mm film analogue camera.

P.S. @ Ghostship:
"Eyephones" don't count - they live in their own twisted reality :P )

You should also search this site:

Made and maintained by a respected Poser afficionado, and it is very complete for all assets that work in Poser. Worth bookmarking!

If you already have V4 and a couple of her morph packs (Morphs++ are mandatory) then you should try "Sasha-16". Can't remember the source right now because I'm on mobile. Just google for it - the first search result should be bull's eye!

Thread: Trolling and Off-Topic posts | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Maybe it helps to look at the registration date of a poster to identify the new wave of trolls which now start to become vocal.
I hope the moderators will strictly enforce these new rules from now on, because the information value about >Poser per se< vanished to almost nill in the last several months because all interesting threads were buried under a shitload of irrelevant threads, or threads were hijacked to OT by some members so that the relevant information got buried in tens of pages of OT posts.
I wouldn't dare to say the old SmithMicro forum was better. But at least they managed to keep the known trolls out, most of the time.
I DO look forward that this forum will become a source of information about Poser again, and not a place where paid trolls can run rampant at their will.

Peter
Thread: To Ryzen or not to Ryzen? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ryzen 5 1600X here on an AMD X570 chipset. OS = WIN 10 home
-EDIT: Twin Radeon RX570 graphics cards running four monitors.
No problems at all, AND:
Compared to my previous machine with five-year old hardware, it's like driving a Ferrari vs. a Cortina :)

Thread: List of facial expression dials (morphs) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you :)
More soon, because I'm still struggling with how to best include the face chips (or control props a la 'PE') in an expression file.

Thread: List of facial expression dials (morphs) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yayy!
Thank you very much Ohki, that's just perfect.
I think I can figure out myself which dials are for expressions and which are for head/face shape.
And if I make a mistake it's easy to correct because all this comes as a configurable/editable list (no Python knowledge needed) :
...
PHMBrowUp-Down
PHMMouthSmileSimple
PHMMouthSmileOpen
...
etc.
in the form of a simple text file.

Thread: List of facial expression dials (morphs) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
if you can, please include BOTH versions (so I can sort out any differences) because I want this script to have all options available in the form of multiple expressions lists.
Muito obrigado!
