I think I have it working - Apparently there's no way to create a node called "transparency_map", but image_map seems to have the same settings, and, other than weirdness when I try to use a tif as a texture, it seems to work. I kind of miss the simple one-page materials dialog in P4. Sure, you can do lots more with the new setup, but it takes a lot longer to 'wire' everything up.
Thread: Poser 5 Transparency maps???? Cant find it.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Pardon me for digging out an old thread, but I have a question about this. When you open a p4 model that has a transparency map applied, P5 creates a node called transparency_map, and not image_map. Is there any difference between an image_map node applied to the transparency plugs, or a P4 converted transparency_map? I can't seem to find any way (short of hacking the cr2) to make a transparency_map node. Is this just a quirk of using old stuff? I can't seem to ever get transparencies to work in poser 5 when I try to apply them from scratch. Am I missing something?

The 'member' in the URL mysteriously changed to 'members' in the last week or so. If you had a bookmark to the member page, edit the bookmark to add in the final S, and you should be golden.

It sounds simple to me - if the founders of the forum are no longer in control of this site, then there's no reason for it to exist. I'm gone, and I hope everybody leaves too. This is just not right. PV
Thread: StuffIt .sit blues. Again. Again. Again. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In tne magazine's favor, aladdin really did mess up on the initial release of stuffit 5 - there were all sorts of problems with people who registered earlier versions, had stuffit deluxe installed, actually had the temerity to use dropstuff, etc. But they've finally gotten all these problems shaken. Please, Please, Please, follow Martin's link and get the new stuffit. This issue drives every mac developer straight up a wall. PV

Now that we're all one big happy family, can the originator of this thread please make it go away? If I see one more ^%$# censorship thread I am going to throttle someone. PV

Thread: Announcement: Individual Weapon Props Now available to Purchase & Download | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You might consider using a payment format that doesn't limit your possible purchasers to Windows users running IE, and in a mode (active-x enabled) that most strongly advise against ever turning on because of massive security problems (it makes javascript abuses look harmless). I'm not currently interested in any of your props anyway (not to say anything bad about them, they look pretty damn good actually), but even if I was, this just isn't an acceptable setup. There are far better payment methods out there. Please look into one. PV

The eyes have been a real pain in the but for p4. It looks like you have a great substitute there. I'm looking forward to downloading them. PV

Neat picture! Have you ever read Zelazny's Amber series? This is exactly what I visualize a trump to look like (did Fiona have red hair, or was that Dierdre?). PV
Thread: Poser 4 curly hair problem... help! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What problems are you having with conforming? While sometimes you need to move them a bit to hide other layers (such as the figure underneath), but I've never had to pose the clothing seperately. That sounds like a horrible job. As for the curly hair - there's two cr2s provided. One can be conformed, and the other has to be positioned and parented with "set figure parent". I don't know why they both are included - the conforming one always seems to work just fine. The reason they are ordinaty hair is that they are hierarchial figures - i.e. multiple individually posable parts. hr2s don't really allow that (I say really because in p3 you could actually go behind poser's back and rename cr2s to hr2 and it would treat the figures like hair props, but it was a bit flaky).
