I read a few tutorials on You Tube ... it sounds as if everyone has a different take on what format to use and the resolution as well.
The nearest I can figure is 640x480 and 30 fps ... so I guess that's what I'll use. Seems awfully tiny, but ... what the hey.

So the stuff at YouTube is flash?? I've got the Macromedia Suite, so I guess I could put it together with that.
I will make it at a high and low frame rate. I doubt I'll ever get further than You Tube, to be honest, but I suppose you never know.

I'm having a hard time understanding how people build all this great stuff out of just primitives. It's amazing.

Hey, gang. I happened on this thread because I joned SL two days ago (SL name is Igraine McMillan). Ricky was not available sooooo I decided on the name of one of my favorite Arthurian characters (King Arthur's mother).
I've been trying to get the hang of modelling with the SL system, but I'm not making a lot of progress. Bryster, I may look you up to get some assistance. If that's ok.
Mostly right now I've been out freebie shopping so that my avatar looks nice. She's a nice, rather conservatively dressed, girl next door type.
People keep telling me that you can use things modelled in other applications in SL, but I haven't figured out how yet. Of course I've only been a member for two days ... and there is a learning curve. However, I've run into some really nice and helpful people (one took me on a virtual shopping trip the other day and showed me how to buy stuff ... fix my hair ... all that sort of stuff.
It really is fun. I just enjoy walking around and meeting people. I'm hoping to put my lecture series on getting to the top of your law school class into SL.
Ricky

Beautiful little girl, and I doubt they will find her alive. It's so sad that parents can't leave a child alone for even a few minutes (what were they ... checking on the kids about every 20 minutes or so) without having a predator abduct him/her??
I guess we can all keep on hoping ....

And I'm still using PSP veraion 8.1. It has everything I need .... or at least that I think I need. There's probably stuff out there I need, but I just don't know that I need it because I've never had it. Or ... something like that.

@Death at Midnight ...
You should read this article (if you get a few minutes). http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/02/13/news/faces.php
I think they will eventually find that many people (and probably most people) also see text and other "patterns" holistically. Just as you don't look at an eye, and then another eye ... then a nose ... and realize it's a face ... you don't see each letter individually and then decide what the word is .... there's a self correction going on in the brain that does its best to impose a logic to whatever pattern the brain perceives.
I wish I could find that odd visual puzzle ... it was really fascinating, but I can't for the life of me remember whether I saw it on the net or in a magazine. Oh well.

I could read it just fine. More about pattern recognition ... there was a special on the tube recently that dealt with the human brain imposing patterns on things that do not necessarily have a pattern.
For example, seeing the man in the moon, or the face on Mars, or taking an upside down image of a really screwed up "face" and being able to recognize the person that was originally depicted (I think it was Lincoln that they used, and if you turned the image right side up, you could see how goofy the image looked .... all sorts of errors in it).
Our minds are really interesting machines.

Theobromine is fatal to both dogs and cats. If you simply have to feed them "chocolate" then get them carob, which has no theobromine.
It doesn't matter whether or not they "like" it, if they get enough theobromine in their system, there is no going back, you will have a dead animal. Not all alkaloids are poisonous to cats and/or dogs, but that one is very well known.
My sister's cat used to love cabbage. That cat would run to the fridge if anyone even said the word "cabbage." She would then sit patiently by the fridge until someone gave her a big piece of cabbage, which she would then nibble on for an hour or so until it was allllllll gone.

Quote - The best thing to give to pets whenever possible is normal food and not artificial.
Dogs eat anything and cats are limited to meat and some fish time to time (not all cat eat fish).
And cats don't eat vegetals!!!!!
Not true. I've had many (many) cats, and have known of many more, who love vegetables. Cats and dogs both love to eat grass and other plant food.
Also, a meat only diet can cause pancreatitis and fatty liver in cats. Both are very serious problems. In addition, certain fish products (such as regular tuna for human consumption) can cause fatty liver.
The food recall is certainly for real. I am glad to report that none of the brands that I feed my cats or dogs are on the list.

As far as using a 2D program for creating greyscale and alpha channels, they are all pretty much the same when it comes to dealing with Bryce.
Bryce is not going to see a jpg, png, or bmp created in PSP any differently than one created in Photoshop or Corel Draw ... or anything else.

There are plenty of PSP Tutorials out there. Just do a Google search, you will find tons.
I doubt that Corel Paint is the same as PSP. I'm actually not certain what program you are referring to, since I've heard of Corel Draw, but not Corel Paint.
Corel Draw is a vector based drawing program that has some similarity to PSP's vector drawing tools.
However, if you are looking for tutorials, there will probably be some attached to the PSP forum and there are many more out on the web.
