Looks pretty good Azchip, well done! I'm wondering about the concrete sidewalk though, it looks too reflective in my opinion. Concrete isnt that reflective when wet, unless that is supposed to be a puddle of water on top of it there. Also the you seem to be missing another support wire for the traffic light, perhaps one running to the pole next to the car. Other than that it looks great!! -Robert Lech

I checked the magazines website (www.3dworldmag.com) and couldnt find the tutorial there unfortunately. The guy who wrote the tutorial is Simon Danaher, you can email him at simond@naher.demon.co.uk and see if he has a pdf or something he would send ya. If not and you'd really like to try it, I wouldnt mind scanning in the tutorial for you. -Robert Lech

Please understand, I meant no slight against your ability as an artist, was just wondering if it was a coincidence or not. Your model is much improved over the tutorial. Congratulations on a fine piece of work :) -Robert Lech

Very nicely done. I'm curious however as the model looks quite similar to a model done in a tutorial for Bryce in the first issue of the new magazine 3D World, although your model is better done. Just curious ;) -Robert Lech
Thread: Physics/rendering questions, Carr and RDS | Forum: Carrara
Andrew, I use Carrara all the time to produce professional television elements and the 30fps rather than 29.97fps is not a huge limitation. As Azchip stated, you can use After Effects to correct it if needs be. Another thing you might want to consider trying is field-rendering which is basically making two images per frame. Animations being produced for television looks much smoother if they are field rendered, however it also depends on the effect you are trying to achiev e. A quick and easy way to do this is render it in After Effects with field rendering enabled in the render module. You have to experiment to find out which field your editing system draws first (upper or lower) and set it accordingly in After Effects. Another way is to render in Carrara at 60fps but as this would increase the render time dramatically I wouldnt recommend it. Email me if you have any questions or if I've confused you. -Robert Lech

I'm curious as to what Avid system you are working with Brent. I work with a Media Composer 8000 and usually piece my animations together in After Effects from Photoshop sequences. If you are working with jpeg sequences my guess is you are working with an NT Avid system. Just curious. :) I'm new to the forum here and am looking foward to participating more in the future. -Robert Lech
