The link is to a brief discussion of basic clothing tutorials a couple of weeks back, though the emphasis did tend to be on dynamic clothing. Might be a start.Try the search engine on this forum.
I also use Blender and am just getting started. Things learned so far:

Thread: Need Pine/ Spruce Trees | Forum: Vue
The Xfrog public plants site has a blue spruce - see http://www.inf.tu-dresden.de/ST2/cg/downloads/publicplants/ I hope you have a system with some oomph. These trees make mine choke. If you want to make your own, there's Arbaro, a cross-platform, Java-based program that exports .obj and pov-ray meshes: http://arbaro.sourceforge.net/ It comes with a bunch of presets that can be tweaked.

I use Poser on a 12" Mac G4 powerbook, 867 MHz and 640 MB Ram, now about 18 months old. Poser gives it a workout: the fan's running and it's warm. There's the occasional crash, but it's usually when I've fiddled with the file too often, tweaking poses, swapping clothing in and out and not deleting unattached simulations.

We should start a club ... pages I have found useful - aside from PhilC's as already mentioned - are: 3D Model Creation for Poser by Ron Spaulding http://www.virtuallyhistorical.com/downloads/819_Modeling%20for%20Poser.htm for insight into Poser's quirks. The tutorials page at PoserFashion http://www.poserfashion.net/tutorials.htm Roy's MAX-Poser tutorials http://www.royriggs.com/poser.html I don't use MAX, so I translate and interpolate, but he's detailed. But I must confess, I am really looking forward to seeing PhilC's ClothingCreator plugin. http://www.philc.net/ClothingCreator.htm

I haven't used it with Poser, only with Vue 4, but have a look at Arbaro over at Sourceforge. It's open source, under active development (last version December 17), is written in Java with XML input (so is platform independent and OS X friendly), exports .obj and .dxf as well as POV-ray, and does richly detailed models. There are about a dozen default files included with the download, so you can make your first model in minutes. The models can be very large, but you can adjust the various parameters (number of leaves, number of branches and splits) to decrease the complexity and the file size. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
