I had this problem with one of Koz's hairs, LongHair Evo to be exact. He made two versions. He has a character hair and also has a prop version, and the MAT files I had wouldn't apply to the prop version unless I did them by hand in the material room. So did much like Victoria_Lee said, opened up the .pz2 files and replaced the line "figure" with "prop figureHair:1" ("prop figureHair" may have worked as well, but Koz himself had his with the :1 in his own mat pose files) They now apply correctly using the mat pose files. Hope that helped.
