I just got on hacked on 2 different cards within 5 days. Â The only purchases were here, Daz and Amazon. Â I think I need to re-think my approach to security.... Â

I had the same problem or something very similar. After the last Vue 6 infinite update, I found this problem with about 2/3 of my plants. E-on suggested that it was a permissions issue so I set Vue to run as an administrator level program. Problem solved. This is with Vue 6 Infinite on Vista 64 . . .

Wabe: I agree with the comments on E-on - they have always tried to do the right thing when I have had problems. That is why I only paused when I was reading throught the "node lock" info. I figured if I had any issues they could be worked through. Well, I'm going to try to install my Pre-Release Vue Infinite 6 Now. Wish me luck !

Wabe:
Are you really sure that "node locked" is the same as the way previous versions of Vue installed? In reading the the descriptions of node locking - I wasn't sure what they meant. It seemed like a product activation type of scheme even though they never specifically mentioned that. The reason that I'm concerned is that I'm currently running Vue on a dual Processor system under XP and I will be loading up the Vue 6 Pre-release on that. When Windows Vista is available for sale, I will replace my Pre-Release Version of Vista (on my Dual Core 64 Bit machine) and load Vue 6, Poser, etc on that machine.  If it is basically a re-load of the the software, that is fine - if I have to work around an activation scheme - it will just be more of a hassle . Â

I've been a pretty big Vue enthusiast since Vue 3. I will upgrade for the Poser enhancements and the 64 bit capability. I've tried the current version of Vue on 64bit Vista and I seem to have enhanced stability and the capability to render more complex scenes. Upgrades are always a bit of a pain but E-on seems to do better than most in this regard . . .

Very Interesting Chris. I was wondering if Vue and Poser would work on 64Bit OS. I'm trying to get on the beta test list for Vista and was going to try so 3D apps on that . . .

Vue Supports dual processor/dual core and it will have a very significant impact on your rendering. I have a dual processor machine right now with 2 gig of RAM. If I was buying/building a machine now I would tend go with an AMD Dual core machine. The price/performance levels between the Intel and AMD machines are quite different so you would have to decide what the proper balance is for you. If you plan on keeping the machine for the next iteration of Windows (Vista), having a 64 bit machine may be an advantage.

I appreciate the info. I'm thinking about building a dual core AMD 64 X2 within the next few months. I was very curious about the interaction of Win64 and Infinite. I'm not holding my breathe on a 64 bit Infinite. I'd expect it to be coming out when Microsoft releases Longhorn . . .
