What I've been thinking of doing is rendering some squalid futuristic street/waystation scenes... there's quite a lot of clean and lovely sci-fi stuff to buy out there, but I need dirty clothes and grimy faces. I've been looking across the market places trying to decide if it's worth buying Poser. I can't find any pre-made stuff at all, it seems to be all clean living or dungeon master stuff, except when people aren't wearing any clothes! So I guess I'm going to have to make my own clothes anyway... Which in a sense is good, as I find it hard to legitimise (from this side of the owning/not-owning Poser wall) a Platinum account with Daz. sigh
All this thinking is really tough, but you should see how bad imported 3dmax figures look in Bryce, using homemade textures. Blarggg...

Thanks for this very useful discussion... I've been sitting on my hands for a month, trying to decide whether or not to buy Poser, but while $180 is within my range, the extra $150 for Vickie and Mike and all their morphs have really put me off. It's nice to hear that what I want to do (make realistic looking people, rather than idealised figures) using the basic program. Maybe I'll have to order the software, afterall... :)
