Thread: GeoControl 2 onsale at Cornucopia $89 | Forum: Vue
GC2s creator asserts on the GC2 forums that the Vue proc terrain resolution makes no difference at all to the render resolution for a GC2 driven terrain - it only affects the quality of the OpenGL preview. I create all my GC2 terrains at 4096x4096 and have always left the GC2 driven proc terrains at 256x256 in Vue and they are fine. I have tested them at higher than 256x256 in Vue and have not seen any difference so have always concluded that Cajomi is right. Is there something I am not aware of?

Yes, I suspect so and, to be fair, when you download and install a beta you have to expect some issues to crop up :-)

I have this, too, though I know not why (so, at least you know you are not alone!).
I have also noticed you cannot adjust the light colour in the atmosphere editor when using a spectral atmos altho you can switch to volumetric, change it, then switch back to spectral ... odd.

I am far from an expert and there are plenty of others here who can provide much more comprehensive advice but your best bet might be to make some time to sit down and watch some of the excellent Vue tutorials at www.geekatplay.com and here at Rendo - you can learn an awful lot with just a few hours of watching these tutorials. I certainly did and I think you will find that the learning curve with Vue is much shorter once you have watched the experts at work.

All the machines at my place save for one are running 32bit Win 7, latest beta build, and Vue runs fine on it with no issues additional to those experienced on Vista.

A really interesting question. I started with Vue in mid January this year but had Bryce, Rhino3D and Poser experience from 2001 and 2002. I am by no means awesome with Vue but found it didn't take long at all to produce what I considered a half-decent image.
Three things I noticed with Vue. First, it is amazingly intuitive (at least for me) and that made the learning curve much shallower. Secondly, there is an unusually large volume of really good quality, free training resources around. I must have watched 40 or 50 Vue tutorial videos in the first 2 weeks after i bought it. I learnt alot from them. And, thirdly, the Vue community just seems super helpful and actually wants to assist newcomers. Questions are answered quickly and thoughtfully on this and other forums and some forum members will go the extra mile, emailing you materials, atmospheres etc and helping you with an image you might be having difficulty with. A couple of artists in particular have been a huge help to me.

GeoControl2 operates as a fully functional demo for the first 30 days if you want to give it a shot. It has a bit of a learning curve but Cajomi has some great video tutorials available in the GC forums and it is well worth the time to watch them (particularly those on isolines and selectors) and then try your hand at creating what you want.
Thread: Real Depth | Forum: Vue
I guess as the moon and similar do not have an atmos like Earths it is much harder to simulate distance and depth because you can't rely on haze etc to create the appearance of distance and size. Perhaps focus on lots of detail, extending far into the distance in order to create a sense of size?

Thread: Rendercow not working - Vue 7 Pro Studio | Forum: Vue
Lodge a ticket with support - I have the same problem and rendercows remain broken depsite the latest update.
One thing people are suggesting may work is re-downloading Vue (the available download at eon should be the fully patched version) and re-installing it. However, on C3D, some of these people are finding that even though that gets the cows running, they fail to render ecosystems (indicating a possible problem with Hypervue).
