Thread: Trying to solve a problem... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the tips. I tried a few things suggested and still couldn't seem to shake the black spots. Very strange. Instead of spending hours messing with the material room i decided I'd just try this freebie rock that I found in the Renderosity free stuff section. Sure enough, no black blots and I think it may actually look better!
Thanks again. I'll have to explore it more when I have the patience for it :)

The rocks that are giving off the black blotches are separate figures. They are actually asteroid props from a space set I have, re textured to match the landscape prop. But even with the textures that were default I was getting this. The main reason for them is to cover the cave entrance, as it is a square object not meant for distance shots. So the surrounding environment is one prop, the cave another prop and the rocks with the black spots 4 individual figures placed to cover the empty parts of the cave prop.

I got two poser items, and I'm a DAZ user only. So, nice idea, but empty egg/grab bag for me. I would really appreciate if the store would offer a Poser and a DAZ grab bag next time.
Well I do feel a bit better knowing that it doesn't just happen to poser users.. Absolutely agree there should have been 2 options!

it does not cost anything except to the vendor that provided the grab items. what one purchases to take part in it, surely is worth the purchase
I don't disagree with you, but I tend to try to catch things on sales or special offers (due to my personal budget) so participating in a sale like this for fun to get something unexpected for free is on paper great, but when the possible options to get only appeal to one portion of the buyers it can be a bit frustrating. I;m not holding it against anybody, I just wish that the free items were something a bit more universal between platforms. I'm allowed to wish!

Yup my experience was similar to what others said, as a Poser user I did 2 purchases and only got stuff i can't use. I mean I get it, it is hard to tell who is a poser user and who is a daz user, but there are lots of items out there that both can use. Would be great in the future for a event like this to have vendors keep that in mind if they agree to take part. I know that i won't be anxious to participate again due to that. And I really was ready to spend some more money this weekend too :/

Thread: Poser 7 crash help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Ok, after reading a post by mariner here, and some fiddling, I SEEM to have fixed my problem.
I added a profile for Poser 7 in the nvidia control panel, under "Manage 3d Settings>Program Settings". The only thing I changed from the global settings was turning the "threaded optimization" OFF. Turning it ON seemed to preserve stability as well, however, camera tracking was VERY slow and choppy, and my cpu usage never dropped below 50%... Turning it OFF, on the other hand returned poser to it's normal smooth operation.
I opened and played around with about a dozen different scenes and it hasn't crashed yet.
Hope this helps somebody.
Wow....way to fix my problem! You rock. Will play around with it a bit to make sure, but it seems to me that this one single fix has made Poser happy again :)
Thanks all for the replies
Cheers!
Thread: Space Lights? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the replies and tips. I suppose I could have given a better description of the look I am going for. I'm trying to light a ship the same way we see the ships in Star Trek, how they are pretty illuminated all around even though they don't seem near a star or anything...
I'll give some of those tips a try though :)
Thread: Will you buy motion capture set for creating 3d movie? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Thank you, wakingdreams.
BTW, assuming all of motions and face expression of a new 3d movie is completely created with motion capture applying to 3d figures , will you appreciate it? Will you think it is very real?
Thanks in advance
I think I would appriciate it if I didn't know motion cap was used...meaning that the animation just in general looks real. Like someone else said, motion cap can be a good -tool- in animations but some of the best work I have seen was certainly not 100% motion cap. It was tweaked or in some cases done from scratch.
I am by no means great at animation myself, but in my attempts to get better at it, I do try to do as much of it on my own, or when using a tool like mo-cap adjust it to feel a bit less generic.
Now, that said if mo-cap is used for 100% of a film and while watching it I don't feel like I am just watching motion captured movements, that is I am not visually saying to myself "that is motion capture" then I can certainly say I would appriciate it. And of course I'd appriciate it more if the story was worth watching as well.
But if I was watching and it blatently felt like I was watching nothing but a series of motion capture edited to make a film, I think it would lose me a little. I could ignore it if the story was downright amazing, but still I think the goal of anyone using mo-cap for a movie would be to use it as a starting point, not the end all, of a animation sequence.
just my opinion, and I am certainly not great at it myself yet.
Here are a couple examples of my animations (trailers for the fan film animation I am working on) to sort of see where I am at in my animating...though becuase it is in a trailer format it is only quick flashes.
Thread: Will you buy motion capture set for creating 3d movie? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I do both. I have purchased some and tweaked them to what I needed, and I have created some from scratch...you can usually tell the difference in my animations (soon to be made available via youtube!)
I usually only by packs that have motions I am having trouble doing myself (as I'm still new to this) like backflips, or sword fighting (still waiting for a brilliant jedi vs jedi one to buy lol) but I recently purchased the M3 talking pack that went on sale recently and it has come in very handy. I always end up tweaking the animations with it to fit the scene and flow with my other animations a bit better, but it shortens the time process in doing those scenes enough to have been worth the money.
I've also done a bit of BVH importing to do my animations, but those usually take up more time than less in getting the animation just right. I only do that when I'm desperate for a movement I just can't seem to get on my own, and it is used more as a guide in doing it.

I'd love to test them out. Been working on some SW fan animations already, and always game to try something new.
Thread: OT: Here it comes: Vista SP1 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The only problem I had with Vista was the "not enough memory" message everytime I tried to render animations in Poser 7, where in XP it could render them just fine. If this is fixed in the SP1 I'll switch back in a heartbeat.

This is a motion cap program offered her in the marketplace. I haven't tried it, but it does allow you to make BVH files.
Hmm...I have looked at that but I would like to hear from some others about it before I decide to purchase. Anyone out there use this? What kind of results did you get?
Cheers

Found a few of them, thanks for the tip.
Question...is there a script or program that can convert BVH files to work with Victoria 3 and M3? Or is it pretty much a whole lot of manual work to do when importing?
Cheers
