I would be more open to updating my V4 to the latest Victoria IF there was an easy way to convert current items to be compatible with that figure,(key word there is "easy"). I'm not a modeler, and even after all this time, I am not familiar with the terminology used in some of the porcesses, so trying to figure out how to learn to create my own content has not been that successful. I did try working with DaZ - too different from Poser and couldn't figure out the UI. I guess if I had started with DaZ instead, the roles might be reversed - don't know. Tried using DSON - failed miserably and nothing worked right. Tried Dawn - did not like that character's overall design. Did some stuff with the Poser 6 default character, but that didn't last long when I found V4. Just all the way around, V4 is a solid character design. Skin tones, movement. morphs, weight mapping, etc just make her better, and skin textures have improved greatly over the years. Also, her look, using the Superfly render engine looks on par with most of the current characters out there.
Been using Vicky for over 10 years now, and I still have so much more to learn. She's been a great teacher.
I would love to use some of the newer content/figures, and it's a shame that the older content can't effectively, (from my own limited research/knowledge), be used with the newer figures. Backward compatibility would make the prospect of upgrading to a more current version of Vicky much more appealing to me.
All the same tho, why should I move on from V4, when I can get results like this?
Thread: runtime library | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
I just received a copy of Poser 11.2 Pro and I am unable to install my Victoria/Michael4 base characters. My old DaZ account has the installers, but is trying to install DaZ along with it. What's the workaround here? Has anyone else run into this before? Also, the Runtime has a bunch of different categories (downloads/purchases/etc) Is there a way to just have ONE single library for each category? I'll never find my content with this library setup. Thanks in advance.

Is there a flashplayer emulator out there that can take the place of Flash and allow the library to re-appear poser 9. These 3rd party apps are absolute crap, and I haven't been able to correctly import anything into Poser 9. I can import stuff, but it always gets messed up. I can't afford an upgrade right now and I am REALLY wanting to get back to my art creation. PLEASE GOD, SOMEONE HAVE A SOLUTION! I Don't want to go over to Daz!

Open your Poser.ini found in your settings normally in
AppData/Roaming/Poser Pro/ "Version of Poser"
Open the Poser.ini with Preferable Notepad ++ Free software. Activate in search Incremental search ! search for the line
LIBRARY_IS_AIR 0 and replace with LIBRARY_IS_AIR 1
LIBRARY_EMBEDDED_TYPE 0 and replace to LIBRARY_EMBEDDED_TYPE 1
the second might vary and makes no difference once you made the changes it will always drop to type 1 ... save your changes and your library will work again.
Tried this, but there is no LIBRARY_EMBEDDED_TYPE 0 line in the Poser 9.ini file

I know this has been idle for a while, but I wanted to add my two cents. I started with Poser 8 and upgraded to Poser 9 a couple years later. After a short stint with the Poser 8 included figures, I got the MIL4 figures and have never looked back. I'm still using Poser 9 exclusively and have gigabytes of V4/M4 content. Once you reach a certain level of financial commitment, it's very difficult to justify incorporating the newer characters when there is no built in "backward compatibility", and you have to convert the content manually, (when it's even possible), or start from scratch. With all of the content available for those characters, I can't ever imagine changing at this time, unless I am gripped with a sudden madness that compels me to learn DaZ and start over.

Thanks for the info! It makes sense with regards to the RAM (32 bit). That explains the 25% max usage, lol.

Just a quick question: The submission form for round 2 has a third file (50 mb limit). What is that for? The instructions for submission don't mention anything about it?
I have a thumb and image, but I want to make sure I don't leave anything out.
Thanks.

In Poser 8, you can go into the materials room and pull up your basic windows, then select "browse" and find the texture file for the character you're placing the lekku on. It sounds crazy, but it actually works, and the shading on the character texture map actually creates the subtle skin tone changes which are like the markings on twilek lekku in the movies and comic books. Just don't use the facial texture map...that looks wrong on so many levels. I've used torso, arm, and leg texture maps and gotten a variety of subtle patterns.
Then go into the advanced materials room and change the color palette on the skin tone. save the color in "customer colors" and apply it to all parts of the character.
It actually turns out really well, and the extremities for the arms and legs aren't descernable because the attach to the smaller end of the lekku.
I used this technique on my image "Ta'tyana TEST IMAGE" (see above). The skin texture and character are Lilah for V4. All I did was apply the skin texture from the torso texture file and change the color in the material room. No post work at all.
