Thank you for confirming that I'm not crazy. That will show the little voices in my head! The basic view was removed in favor of the setup that is there now.Â
No idea why they removed the Simple tab versus just adding a new Assign tab.
I only ever use the Edit tab, but can see how the Simple one being gone could be an issue if you used the Simple one previously.
Put a request ticket in to put that panel back. Just from your question it is obvious you used it, and miss it.

I’ve invested too much with V4 and Poser to switch.  Besides, I don’t wanna have to learn a whole new interface..,

Here's the result (with some props thrown on for reflections).
What are your render settings here?

You want your paint image (I used Boston Bruins logo) and also a scratch texture. I found that one free on the web. It has white where there are strong scratches, black for clean surface. We also need the negative of it but I make that on the fly with the Math Subtract node.
You blend the two textures with the Blender and that's your diffuse color.
The inverse (negative) of the scratch texture goes into a Fresnel_Blend which means we get stronger reflections where there are no scratches, and the strength varies correctly with the angle of incidence. That is the factor we use for the Reflection_Value. A slightly softened Reflect node is used for the actual reflection.
We also wire the inverse of the reflection value into the Diffuse_Value (because conservation of energy says so).
First, thank you for your help!
Second, good to see another B's fan here!

Maybe make the ice volumetric, so that the floor shows through, but somewhat clouded.
OK, so how is that done? What about the rest of the settings for the ice layer?

OK, here are the material settings for the two skating renders. The no reflection one is on the left and the reflective one that has the ugl colors is to the right.
The presence of the bump map seems to make no difference.
I used the ice shaders in the Vincebanga Supperfly Shader set from the RM marketplace for them both. One is on the left and two is on the right.

I used the Vincebanga ice shaders in this one. The left is shader one and the right is shader 2. I want the reflections, but can't figure out how to either get them in shader one or to get rid of the ugly mottling in the second.

I am definitely on the lookout for a few medical-based items, to work in Poser 11. Some big, some small.
- Mammogram machine
- CT, or 'Catscan' system
- Vitals monitor, for taking blood pressure, temperature and heartrate of a patient
- Electrocardiograph unit with sticker probes for V4 & M4
- Portable blood pressure checker with posable cuff for V4 & M4
Please let me know if any of these items might already be available for Poser 11 and where I can obtain them, or whether these highly-marketable items could be created for use in Poser 11.
Thanks so much.
I wish folks paid any attention to the Wishing Well.
