I tried TruForm's "Kitchen Add-on Pack" available here in the free stuff last night. The models are very nice but the materials are very basic and did not render anything like his promo. But once I replaced the materials (which I do with most stuff anyway) I was very pleased with the results.

Fantastic tip!
The other night I was experimenting with queue manager sending jobs to a faster slave machine and also noticed the increase in render times. This helps explain why.

The motherboard is the ASUS Sabertooth P67.
FYI the RAM is 4x Corsair Vengeance 4GB speed 1600
I didn't know that about the RAM.

Quote - ws99pf : Hyperthreading was on I'm assuming. Those are some awesome times and I was feeling good about my times. Time for an upgrade. :-) Imagine what times you would get with that chip at 4ghz. With those temps you've got a little headroom for overclocking if your into that.
Yes, hyperthreading with 8 threads. I should have mentioned that the i7 860 was slightly overclocked to 3.1 GHz
Over the next few weeks I'll be building a new box with the second generation i7 2600k 3.4GHz, so I'll publish the results when I get them, together with improvements from overclocking.
I think using a SATA6 SSD for the runtimes and temp files should result in slightly fast renders too.

Thread: Help please?!?! Video signal cuts out when rendering | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Same happens to me with PP2010 during long renders. Screen comes back briefly if I move the mouse. Once the render is complete the screen stays on okay. I'm guessing the monitors aren't getting any signals and so go into sleep mode when the CPU is busy. CPU is a i7-860 quad core.
You could look at your power settings in the control panel.
Also Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, but using two 5000 series graphic cards running 3 Samsung monitors.
