hope you get well soon, my thoughts are with you!
Although the attached pic is a bit dark, I thought it would be a good choice because it might remind you of something still to come...
Best wishes and warmest regards,
Leon
Thread: Slow going in the galleries :o( | Forum: Community Center
Yesterday I had to wait 2 minutes to get from one gallery page to the next. Today gallery images do not open at all. This is going on for months now, as far as I remember since december. I ask myself if the performance of the site will EVER get any better and WHEN???!!!
Thread: Back to Thumbnails takes you back to your comment?? | Forum: Community Center
For whatever reason (maybe to temporarily avoid traffic???) the link has been changed from a real url to a javascript "history.back ()". When you leave a comment and press the submit button you request an url like "viewed.ez?galleryid=xyz". That's why the "Back to thumbnails" link takes you back to the gallery image instead of the thumbnails page after hitting the submit button. Maybe this could be avoided with a "history.go (-1)" and "history.go (-2)" instead of "history.back ()" ???
Thread: Technical: How is the "speed of a lens" calculated? Just curiosity asking. | Forum: Photography
Here's my explanation, don't know if this helps: The equation to calculate the f-stop (aperture ratio) is focal length divided by the diameter of the lens. So the bigger the aperture/diameter of the lens at a given focal length the faster the lens.
Thread: Which browser??? | Forum: Photography
A very fast and more secure browser than IE is Opera. Opera can also 'pretend' to be IE or Netscape. It's a bit more like IE (in regards to scripting and CSS) than Netscape, so you should almost have no problems with the display of different websites. But sometimes you just have to use IE, because some of the website programmers just don't care about cross browser programming. Nevertheless my favorite browser is Netscape.
Thread: screen/picture size | Forum: Photography
Whenever possible, I try not to upload images wider than 800px. Assuming most people have a screen size 1024 x 768, they don't have to scroll to see the image and still have access to the RR nav-side-bar without scrolling. Have a great day :)
Thread: Critisism - I know, it's a known topic | Forum: Photography
I think, the best way to LEARN is to have a LOOK at other peoples work and to compare different approaches to the same subject! And the best way to 'criticize' and support is to give some positive feedback, to ENCOURAGE people (and not to depict what in your eyes might be wrong with the image, like bad teachers do in front of the class). Of course, if you prefer to discourage people, tell them what you would have done better! If you can't help it, why not do it via IM! - I mean, I do not speak of the forum, but of the gallery. If somebody feels she/he needs advice, help criticism she/he can post the image in the forum!

I would prefer the filter, definetly! Beautiful and unique effect! Of course, the butty looks great in both versions.

Thread: better in black in white or color?? | Forum: Photography
Looks much better, than the color version, imho, although I'd still prefer the b/w version. But maybe that's only, because your images always let me think of great old b/w western movies!
Thread: better in black in white or color?? | Forum: Photography
The vivid colors are a bit distracting for my taste. I'd prefer the b/w version, too! Concentrates more on the lightplay!
Thread: Vigneting??? Help needed plz gang! ;) | Forum: Photography
Anyway, vignetting seems to be a general lens problem. According to dpreview differences in luminance greater than 15% may be visible in everyday shots. At dpreview you can have a look at the in-depth review / Photographic tests page for your cam, for the sony DSC-V3, for example: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscv3/page13.asp
Thread: I was married 15 years ago today!!... | Forum: Photography

Thread: Tilted or not tilted? | Forum: Photography
