I have 106 models and utilities on the freestuff. A long time ago my paid account (20 megabytes) at http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk became full, and I had to look elsewhere to host the overflow. For a long time Penguinisto kindly hosted that overflow, but recently he had a visit from some bunch of gestapo and they took his server away. See the thread at this link for more information about this. After that, another Renderosity member kindly hosted by stuff, but today he emailed me saying that he has been warned by his internet provider about the resulting extra bandwidth, and that as a result he will have to drop my hosting on 31 Dec 2002.Anthony Appleyard posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 4:43 PM
"hosted by stuff" = "hosted my stuff". Sorry, typo. I have discovered the hard way that attempts to host it on free sites like Tripod, lead nowhere.

P.S. I suspect that his internet provider has cut me off already. The stuff needing somewhere to go, is about 20.1 megabytes.

Hi AnthonyI don't know what ISP you use, but you might want to give Freeserve a look (so long as you have a standard BT phoneline too).
This is from their website:
Summary: This quick guide explains the Freeserve policy on member's websites in terms of bandwidth and total storage space.
Relevant to: Windows 95/98/2000/Me/XP, Mac OS
No, there are currently no bandwidth restrictions on Freeserve homepages.(In case you were wondering, 'bandwidth' reflects the amount of activity on your website. It may use up a lot of bandwidth because it is very popular with other people, or it may be because you or they are uploading and downloading a lot of material.)
Freeserve members can use up to 30MB of web space for each website they build if they use the My site builder or FTP my site tools. You can create up to five websites.
Your site can receive as many visitors as you like, as long as it conforms to our Terms of Use.
They don't allow direct linking anymore, but 150mb with no bandwidth restrictions for 13.99 a month ain't bad :)
Cheers

Oh yeah, there is also www.freewebz.com, don't know about bandwidth restrictions, but they give out 100MB, without banner ads, although you may grow old waiting for their server, it's awfully slow.

As long as you don't have a website (read: domain), my offer still stands. 100MB of ftp space for FREE on a 768Kb/s T1. You get an account for ftp access and info necessary for linking to your items. Kuroyume0161

The trouble with paid USA sites is that I am in England (UK) and outside the money dollar area when they need paying, and I do not have a bank account at any USA bank.

Take a PayPal account, many hosts accept it and funding is relatively easy.
Anthony Appleyard posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 8:25 AM
What is a PayPal account? Where can I get one in Manchester in England?
dampeoples posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 8:28 AM
www.paypal.com, you pay people throught their email addy. You would need to transfer money from your bank to the account, I couldn't begin to tell you how that works in the uk, but it works beautifully here.
