Lorraine, The hair is incredible!! Please tell us how you did it. Please... Is your character a V3, and how long did the render take?
Lorraine posted Thu, 26 December 2002 at 1:18 PM
the model is V3, hair model is the bombshell hair; I used #3 brush in photoshop, the size of the render was 1000px wide, I think this is 641x800 so original was 1000x whatever. the hair is layered in by picking colors from the hair and the face. Then I just draw in lines in the direction I think the hair would flow, also following the general hair model. Using brush settings, multiply, normal and screen mostly just put in a layer then adjust the opacity....I also put lights on the layer mostly omni; on one of the layers around the face I use eyecandy, shadowlab to let it make shadows then adjust the opacity and follow with another layer that uses a face color to put in some hair lines....it really does not take long, the p5 render was not too long, maybe 10 minutes using p4 settings; I used a gradient blue/red/yellow overlay and adjusted the opacity put it in between duplicate layers then adjusted the top layer ever so slightly...it gives subtle color to the face....overall it took maybe 1 hour to do.
Smitthms posted Thu, 26 December 2002 at 1:34 PM
Wow Lorraine.... I spend an hour just doing (or picking) poses. Thomas
nakamuram posted Thu, 26 December 2002 at 2:10 PM
Lorraine, I thought that the hair was strand-based. Its still a "bombshell" though. Great work!!

Just wondering, now that the deadline has been extended is it possible to delete our earlier entry and send in a new one since only one entry is allowed? Thanks, MI
Smitthms posted Thu, 26 December 2002 at 5:36 PM
Actually, no, sorry iranim... the 1st entry is the only 1 allowed. Thomas

I'd say your judges are going to have a difficult time. I've not been very fond of portraits until I've seen the variety and creativity on this thread. Everyone has done such an excellent job, I'm glad I'm not the one having to make the decision. You all set a very high standard. Wonderful!!
Smitthms posted Tue, 31 December 2002 at 10:42 PM
I agree dialyn.... it is going to be a rough one Thomas

I'll add my congrats as well. Most of the prizes went to the pretty ones, but I though the ugly one were very interesting, and probably a lot harder to do. (My favorite of the ugly portraits was lordcrusan's but I have no prizes to give.) No complaint here, the judges probably had a heck of a time making a decision on this one, there are at least 10 I would rank as "Excellent" including the winners. There are a lot of wonderful artists out there doing portraits.

How Dare u! Mines isn't ugly..I happened to think he's a very handsome guy...Heee hehee Iam glad u like it xocxoc..This was an excellent group of pic iam sure the judges had a tough time. I would not want to be one.
