On Dec16 I tried to put an order through to Curious Labs for Poser 5. It told me my postal code was incorrect. I tried again it was incorect even though it was correct. I tried the next day they told me I had insufficient funds. Even though i knew this was not possible I went to the bank and paid more onto the credit car. Still it was denied. I tried at least 10 times to put this order through. finally I went directly to the bank where they have me billed for 10 copies of Poser 5 and HAVE FROZEN MY ENTIRE CREDIT CARD 7 DAYS BEFORE XMAS AND I HAVE 3 CHILDREN I NEED TO BUY XMAS GIFTS FOR. I called Curious Labs and they would barely return my calls. When I finally got ahold of someone they told me it wasn't their problem. What the heck kind of system is this? the worst thing is they're not even shipping 1 copy of Poser 5 out of the 10 they think I ordered.

I did have the same problem when I ordered Poser 4. It turns out the service they use puts a hold on the funds. My problem was my zip code changed after I had gotten my card. Of course, the records showed that I had entered a wrong zip code, as I entered the correct zip code, and not the zip code that my bank had in their records. I went to my bank, and found out what happened. They couldn't do anything specific, but they did tell me when the holds expired. It was a matter of about 4 days total from the time I originally placed the order. I know this doesn't help you specifically, but I would hazard a guess that unless you got confirmation of a sucessful transaction, you probably haven't ordered any copies as far as Curious Labs is concerned. The problem seems to lie with the credit card service that Curious Labs uses. I know it is a pain, but it is intended to protect the buyer and seller from fraud. Sometimes, it is handled badly however.

but why would you want poser5 anyway?

"FROZEN MY ENTIRE CREDIT CARD" have they really frozen the credit card? or has the funds juts all been used up. If it's the latter then the authorizations usually drop off in under 3 days so it should drop off today (or maybe tomorrow?) cheers! -Josh

"but why would you want poser5 anyway? " LOL, because some people actually like the software! (yes I think poser 5's pretty cool) and you can't get work done with a program that you don't have :) cheers! -Josh

Call your bank and they can do a research request and give you provisional credit for the error. (I work for Wells Fargo bank.) Boni

Dios mio, that is one sad story. I can see why Curious would do stuff to protect itself from charge-back scams, but I hope they aren't FUBAR like that at Daz when they start shipping the Character Animation Tool for Mac OS.

First, that's not a credit card, that's a debit card if you are paying money in advance. Second, that's a bank card problem... your card... not anything to do with CuriousLabs. I've dealt with screwy banks, too, but not blamed the merchant. Until they are informed by the bank that you've paid for the product, you haven't really ordered it. Talk to your bank and get that fixed.

And, sorry if this is scary, but you should check your credit report every month for a while. I've lived through something like this, in my case the merchant (Adobe) was at fault, they charged multiple times then they credited, then did it again, then credited then did it again.... Finally, it was misrepresented in the credit report. Be careful and good luck. Q

I don't think it will show up in a credit card report in this case. usually the way credit card processing works (for most online stuff) is: 1) they check to see if you have the money, and put a hold on your account (authorization) 2) they check to make sure your submitted information matches 3) they capture the funds if step 2 doesn't work, you could have an erroneous authorization which will drop off after 2 days

Josh... Key word in my post is "misrepresented". I no longer deal with that bank and the credit officer was fired. Still. Better safe than sorry.

Kramer, this is a 10 minute fix on the phone. Call the customer service number on your card. Be polite but insistant. Dispute the charges right then. THey have to be removed by LAW while they are being investigated. While they are removing the erroneous charges, have the service rep issue an immediate credit report update that cites the dispute and the reasons WHY. Your cards should be released from freeze within the hour.

hauksdottir, You work for curious Labs don't you, He he, Just kidding, I think it is a bank card problem too. rules banks have on bank cards. 1, the bank card will continue to order if you continue to repeat the transaction, drawing directly from your account. 2, the transactions are on hold until the transactions post to your account. 3, if your account goes ISF/NSF Where you do not have enough funds to cover all your transactions, the bank will freeze your card and your account and send you a notice informing you that you are over your account limit and that you owe them 29 dollars for each transaction that put you over the limit. What you do is you contact curious labs and ask them to take all copies off your order except one and that they should credit your account for the other 9 copies you did not want, Also notify your bank of the transaction error and that you notified the vendor to return your credit. Sorry Curious Labs your all wrong on this one, Curious labs could write you a check and refund your money if going through thier bank is so aggrivating, But you would still have to wait until the transaction posts, this could take a few days.

Mesh_Magick posted Thu, 19 December 2002 at 8:10 AM

hmm maybe they have an automated shipping system, If your order gets screwed up because of insuffient funds then you get nothing even if you ordered ten copies and paid for 9 of them.

Mesh_Magick posted Thu, 19 December 2002 at 8:13 AM

well this is a problem we all would like to see fixed, have the credit and bank card ordering sustems warn you that you are making an additional purchase or have the basket warn you have palced an identical copy of a product in the shopping basket. If this very kind and very user friendly system had been in place when Kramer99 made his order, He would most likily have poser 5 by now without having his financial life screwed up.
