I would like to have a Geisha wig in my collection. I have given this several attempts. But since I'm not really sure about how the hair is structured, I'm doomed to fail. All the pictures I've found on the web were either very tiny or just not enough detail for me to do anything with. And since the wig is black, you can't really tell how the wig is pulled and tied. And search as I might , I have never found anything close to a (good) geisha wig in 3D. most are just metaball lumps, and even when you squint at them, they really don't look like much. I need something at least middle-of-the-road to start with. If anyone can even do a med-resolution base (shape), I can hopefully add verticies and come up with the final. I'm also very good at non-organics, so I can do ALL the accessories. Wooden combs, chop stick-like things, any of the little touches that are added. Any help on this is apprecieated. James

http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Lofts/5783/pics.htm That web site has a couple of Geisha photos. I have a couple wood block prints of Geishas also. Marge

Thanks guess, but as you can see. Agian very small pics with little or no detail, and the wigs are just black areas around the head. James

On page 163 of the book "Memoirs of a Geisha" a novel by Arthur Golden they describe one of the most popular hairstyle called a "split peach". Swept forelock back, brought the rest up into a large knot like a pincushion. From the back it is split in 2 giving the hairstyle name the "split Peach". The knot is formed by wrapping the hair around a piece of fabric. The fabric is visible in back where the bun is split. The fabric can be any color or design but after a certain point in her life it is always red silk. Men found this hairstyle erotic because of what it would remind them of. :) hope this helps a little, Marge
