Thats great, what about a red nose from all the eggnog. They are fun characters to play with. Tashar 59

I've only now started on the reindeer texture, so the images above depict a work-in-progress. These antlers will be included in the character pack, along with a shorter pair (reworked from the Devil-Mousie freebie) for out-of-season renders.

Mostly postwork, but Furrette has a separate material group for the nose, so you can set it to whatever object/ambient colour you like.

Most of these images were rendered in Poser 5, incidentally. Furrette doesn't seem to have any problems with Firefly's polygon-smoothing option. I'll try to have them in Free Stuff before morning. Any name suggestions for the male version of Furrette? Other than Fork or Furraldo?

pssst, not trying to be picky but female reindeer don't have horns, it's only the males who have them & only for mating season. They look great though :)

Is that just bump mapping? When you're working in Poser5, why don't you use displacement mapping for fur?
Little_Dragon posted Tue, 24 December 2002 at 10:00 AM
Actually, reindeer are the sole species of deer in which both genders have antlers. The males lose their antlers at the beginning of winter, but the females keep theirs until spring.
I am using displacement mapping, stewer. I simply don't have it set high enough to turn Rudolph into Chia Deer. Displacement is good for creating a fuzzy effect, but isn't as well suited for faking realistic fur. On the other hand, strong displacement on the antlers could create the illusion of velvet.
The reindeer character pack is now in Free Stuff. I changed my mind about the shorter pair of antlers. I might add them later, if my experiment with morphing the full-sized antlers doesn't work out.
Furrette/Furraldo v1.10 has been uploaded as well. In addition to the new eye tex and male full-body morph, it also features an EasyPose tail.
