I am wondering which I should get when I use my Christmas money tomorrow. I use Poser 5, trying for comic book pictures (ex. Mr X/Doc Droid) and also try and do animation at time. I generally have global lighting in my pictures. Any advice?

I got the standard rez since i do stories and not portraits. the bigger more detailed the texture the less you will be able to add to your scenes.

I'm thinking of getting the Universal hi-res, myself. Poser does highlights well enough on its own, and I can scale the maps down when necessary.

I got the universal hi-res. I figured I could add highlight in post or on the tex. I find most textures have to much of it and with a lot of lighting makes it look worse. The universal seems to capture the light were you want it with better control. Also I can use it in other apps to my likeing. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Tashar 59

I picked up the Standard Res Highlight and Contour maps and have not been dissapointed. I didn't go for the regular ones because I"m still on P4 and figured the highlights would be interesting. So far they've worked beautifully in all types of lighting.

I picked up the universal high res, and reduce their resolution in photoshop(and colour balance them, reduce saturation a tad, etc). I like having the big ones to mess with and then reduce the resolution for renderings that don't need high-res maps. I prefer to see highlights where the light actually hits the face, and I will add highlighting in postwork in photoshop if I feel theres a bit lacking here and there. :)

I got the standard res, universal, and I have to say that I'm very pleased with it. It's not at all like the v2 map, which we all got shafted on. Even the standard res looks very good and realistic, and shouldn't cause problems on even an older computer. Although, I've got my eye on Rose in the freestuff area, and she looks like a high quality texture.

Does anyone know if the Splash image from Daz was actually done in Poser? To me, it was either done in a higher end software or it was heavily postworked. Does anyone know for sure? For instance there was a background fade with the ear blurred. I don't believe this is achievable in Poser.

Could be a DAZ Studio thing? (Hmmm, previews of what's to come there possibly?)
