hi, i have a problem when i try to render scenes, the rendering box comes up but doesnt actually do anything, a shadow appears under the box but poser 4 seems to have locked up, i have to ctrl+alt+del to close it. it doesnt do it all the time though, just when it feels like it, i think i have a good enough system to use poser 4, 1.4ghz cpu & 512mb. ive tried different settings with windows virtual memory, but it still does it, its almost random. ive even re-installed poser 4 but still it continues. anyway im hoping someone has an idea, thanks in advance, bye. amd thunderbird 1.4ghz geforce 2 gts pro 128mb 512mb pc133 poser 4 + pro pack 18gb hdd

What OS are using? It sounds like it maybe Win98/ME in which case your best bet would be to set your scene, save as a .pz3 or .pzz and reboot. Reload your scene and render. I used to suffer this too, but it stopped when I got XP, it's memory management is heaps better. The general concensus is an upgrade to XP generally sorts this out. Sorry!

I used to have that problem constantly on WIN98. I recently set up a dual-boot with Win2K and only rarely have a memory related problem with Poser. While i was still having the problem I looked into the issue here in the forums and found that nearly everyone with the same problem was on win98 (which almost everyone I know that deals with software told me has a ton of memory issues) so yes an upgrade or at least a dual boot set up would be the best.
