Just picked up this utility and it seems to work great. Did an intensive render earlier with dynamic hair, while surfing the net and chatting with a friend on Yahoo and no crash! I'd advise anyone with serious P5 crash problems to give it a look. http://www.memturbo.com

Forgot to mention my system is Win98, 600Mhz CPU, 320Mb RAM. Borderline at best.

Looks a bit like the wonderful (and free!) "MaxMem" from http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/system.htm Which I use constantly :)

Theres a memory manager called Cacheman. I downlaoded it but never tried it. Curious Labs has it on their site Has anyone tried it.Does it work as good? Or is it the same thing?

Try it and see if you like it.

The reason I asked was I'm not sure if works the same way or accomplishes the same thing as the 2 other programs mentioned. I have laoded it but I haven't tried any complex rendering jobs yet. It has a bunch of settings but I'm not sure which ones would give me freeze protection the memory monitor shows plenty of memory even when the scenes are freezing. I just thought someone might be a little more familiar with the program and has enough technical savy to understand what the best settings would be for this situation.

My freezes have shown plenty of available MEM on freeze. The saves have been elsewhere, but the app has saved me.

fls13 are you talking about Cacheman or Turbomem I don't know if this is a freeze or not but the cloth simulator now stays stuck on frame 11 with the number at the right dithering between .669 and 0.671. I guess I'm over to the Beta Tester Forum to report thiis one.
