I want to have a repeating animation for a tire to continuously rotate 360 degrees, while the vehicle is moving. I did this a long time ago and cant remember how. I clicked on the "Repeat Animation" button on the tab, but it stops as i move it to the next keyframe. Any suggestions?

As far as I can remember you first state the animation length then apply the repeat animation. So it just repeats it self all the way through.

As ttops said first make the length of the animation you want then set repeat.

I have set the length of the animation. I set it for 10 seconds with a keyframe at every second. When i move the tire's rotation it moves only in the keyframe in which i selected. when i selected Repeat Animation it does not work. Still Stuck?????

Thank you ttops..... I do appreciate you taking the time to screen out the options for me. How ever this has not solved my problem. I am able to make the animation from key frame to keyframe. I thought there was a way where you can set one keyframe to rotate 360 degrees and then have that movement repeat throughout the entire animation. I am animating a vehicle moving across a surface, and i want to set up the tires so they rotate with the vehicle. Is there anyway to have them automatically rotate, or do i have to set up each tire for each keyframe? Thanks again!

Hmmmm....my mech animation all I did was do one step for each leg then just picked each object in turn and went into the AML and set to repeat. I got 12 steps out of it in 6 seconds. Try first moving the car along the path you want for the entire animation (this case the 10 secs). Then go back and animate the tire for one complete rotation within the time you want. Then go to AML and set to repeat. One question why do you have a keyframe every second? You only need keyframes when something moves, changes, etc. This could be what's causing you problems.

Tried what you said Aldaron, and it still doesnt work. I went into the AML and moved the slider for the rotation to the end of the 10 second animation and the tire still stops. I moved the car along the path first at the 10 second mark. Then i did a 355 degree forward rotation at the 1st second mark, and selected "Repeat Animation". I am lost.....I am sure this is something simple, and makes sense to those familiar with animaitons, but I have no clue. Thanks!

Also, where do you set a objects rotation to repeat in the AML? I have been checking the radio button in the tabs under the "Attributed" tab!

Ok you may have to start completely over and get rid of all the keyframes for the object. I found turning off auto-key was easier to do all this. 1. Select object. Go into AML. Shift-click on highlighted object and select delete all keyframes. (you could expand the list by clicking on the object name then shift-click certain attributes to just delete those) 2. Exit AML. Set key frame at begining (by clicking the +) with your tire selected. 3. Move scrubber 1/3 of the one second (how many frames depends on your fps). Using the edit palette, rotate your object in the direction you wish 120 degrees and set keyframe. 4. Continue at the 2/3 mark and 1 second mark, each time rotating 120 degrees and setting keyframe. 5. Go into AML. Shift-click object and set to repeat. This all is if you've already set the animation to 10 seconds like you wanted and moved the car where you wanted. I assume the tires are linked to the car. This should work with all tires selected. Since you are trying to animate a car moving I'd use at least 24 fps to give as many frames as possible to see the tire rotate. Hope this helps. Some people seem to have trouble having things rotate.

You are solid brother. Thanks so much! Once you said to hit SHIFT when i click on the timeline in the AML, it worked like a charm. I only had to set up one animation frame too, and it looped throughout the whole thing. That was solid man, thanks!

Glad we finally fixed it. :)
