I had a friend tell me there were some compatability issues/problems with Bryce 5 and Windows XP. I'm running XP Pro with Bryce 4 now, without issue. Has anyone out there heard about this or run into it? Also, I noted that there is a patch available for Bryce 5 on the Corel website. Any info on what the patch is for?

There are a couple of threads here on B5 and XP, just do a search with those parameters, the update fixes some minor qirks with the lighting and tree labs, etc...hope that helps...:>

I run Bryce 5 on XP Pro and I have the Bryce patch applied. There have been no problems on my system running these two together, but before I applied the patch Bryce did seem to be prone to annoying little glitches, like crashing. Now it works fine. Hope this helps. Catlin Actually the only problem I can think of with XP is that by itself it needs about 128mb ram, so you really need at least 512mb ram to cope with Bryce as well.

Not a Problem, but... If you try to switch on the fly between Bryce5 and another open app using the start bar Bryce won't let you. Clicking on the open app on the bottom bar also interupts your current render. The small blue dot of the five on the Bryce control panel to the right of the center one is the resume render button. It will start things again without going back to the beginning. To use your computer during the two days that it is rendering start the render then go up to the top of the screen with the mouse to make the bryce control bar appear. Click on the minus(-) button to minimize bryce to the task bar. You can now use office, explorer, etc. while bryce continues to render. One other thing, If you are saving a large bryce file over 100meg watch your drive light. Bryce tells you it's finished saving long before all the data is stored. Windows XP task manager doesn't seem to recognize bryce is a running task. You can shut down windows before your file saves.

you can also use the Alt+Tab to get to other open apps or hit the Windows key... I use Bryce 5 patched and XP Home 256M RAM with no problems...
