It looks just like a radio my grandmother had years ago. Nostalgia calls. 8) Catlin

Looks pretty good. I did some research on old radios one time to find out how much a retro radio I had was worth. You may find this site interesting.ttops posted Mon, 06 January 2003 at 8:08 PM
Nice modeling looks tiptop to me.

Looks pretty good, especially the 'cloth' texture.

You got it bikermouse it's the fabric over the speaker that makes it so realistic. Still think it looks great........I want one. Nostalgia. Catlin

Erlik are you going to put it in a period scene? Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Erlik: I was a child in the late fifties, early sixties. Very evocative of the period. Is this a reproduction of a real antique radio, or a product of your imagination? Either way, great job!
This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

It's a bit of both, but it looks like a '57 radio we had (still have somewhere) back in my hometown. Of course, that one is called "Jadran 57" - Adriatic 57. :-) ICM, thanks. I visited some sites, but I don't remember this one. I'll try and make a better scale. And yes, I plan on using it in a scene.

Erlik, By 1961 almost all radios were made of plastic. The rosewood cases say mid fifties to me - 1957 seems like it's pushing it a bit but possible. My uncle had an old rosewood tv/am/fm cabinet type console that featured both black and white colors on with a wopping 7" screen and a 12" built in monoral speaker. It was either a Motorola, Sylvania or RCA Victor. When he got a larger screen tv he gave it to us. Imagine what that would have been worth now if we'd have kept it. - TJ

If I remember correctly, the radio at my parents' house is made of particle board with a thin veneer over it. Or possibly some other kind of cheaper wood. And don't forget that it's not in the States. We were a bit behind the times here. :-)
