Hi folks, As I am not that rich and based in France, I would like to know if anybody is ready to, or knows a place where I can get Victoria for cheaper price than it is sold by metacreations ... Even if I buy it with special offer price ($49,99) I will pay finally almost $85 or $90 with shipment and french VAT ... (GRRRRR !!!) Are there any French people in this forum who would contact me to speek about this problem ??? Thank you by advance. OJM.LoboUK posted Thu, 27 April 2000 at 5:30 AM
There's no such thing as a 2nd hand Victoria figure. Sole rights are granted to the purchaser and are not transferable. You will have to get this directly from Zygote. If you buy the figure and download from Zygote's site - then you'll only pay the special offer price. No shipping, no VAT, no import duty - just the offer price. Paul

what if you buy something from zygote and get a CD sent? then aren't you allowed to sell that on to someone else as long as you remove it from your computer? What if you buy a model as a gift for someone else? then you'd feel kinda bad if you aren't allowed to give it to them? I was reading somewhere that no matter what the games/software companies say in their agreement, you are still allowed to make one copy to a remote place (like a CD) for backup, and you are still allowed to sell it on (if you paid for it) as long as you give them all your copies and don't keep anything for yourself...but I'm not 100% sure about this and I suspect they can get around that rule by saying "we aren't selling you the model, we are selling you the right to use the model" SewerRat

Technically, a software maker (and that includes 3d meshes) cannot restrict you from making a backup copy, or from reselling your legally purchased copy of said software, so long as it is removed entirely from your posession in any and all forms. This includes updates, etc... (so if you purchased V3 of Poser, for instance - and paid the upgrade price for Poser4, you cannot legally sell your copy of Poser3). The Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA) is threatening to severely restrict consumers' rights with regard to software purchase and licensing in the U.S. If you haven't heard about UCITA before, read about it here: http://www.macintouch.com/ucita.html If you live in the U.S., contact your legislators and let them know what you think of UCITA. -sk

You can't download it if you're in france? I'm going to have to reconsider my immigration to France. -Darth_Logice

oh, france has cool laws when it comes to this you can buy software, change it, then sell it just as long as you buy a licence for each licence you sell of course, the effort involved in reverse-compiling software is probably more than just doing it from scratch, but the principle is cool SewerRat
