I'm new to this game and would like to know how to unzip files so I can use them on Poser.I,m been downloading freebies off this site to a folder I created in Poser but I can't unzip then to use.I,ve been clicking in circles. What I end up with when I try to open them is a winzip box showing 3 or 4 files Thank youdberryart@msn.com

well your just about there . The part were you see the winzip box showing files you click actions then select all. Then extract , this opens up a explorer window and you point it to your poser folder C:Program FilesMetacreationsPoser 4

You should probably read the readme file, if there isn't one you should extract the winzip to a dummy folder and then follow the runtime example and copy and paste. For example our models are put here: Whatever.obj goes in Runtime/Geometries/SAMS3D Whatever.cr2 goes in Runtime/Libraries/Characters/SAMS3D Whatever.rsr goes in Runtime/Libraires/Characters/SAMS3d Whaterver.jpg goes in Runtime/Textures/SAMS3D Remember this is pertaining to our models, other peoples models will have differnt folders usually their own. Hope this helps you out a little. Sharen

I'm going to just assume your winzip interface is the same as mine. After you open up winzip, and the files come on screen, you highlight them with the mouse... and press the extract button. Another window will pop up,and then you find the directory poser is installed in, click on it, and hit extract. You have to be sure that the Use folder names box in the bottom left corner is checked though. What I personally do is Unzip them to a spare folder on my desktop, and then manually place them inside the directory, its a pain, but its better organization. For the folders each file goes in, scroll up to the top of this page and click Poser Forum FAQ, and that should keep you entertained long enough to learn about it. Enjoy

I've Got an easier solution for all of you, just us stuffit expander, it works with ZIP files, and it decompresses everithing to it's corresponding folders.
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

Not to detract from any of the above, you may find this link above useful. Its my generic readme and includes a picture of how to use WinZip. There are also details there on how to use Compose. Not run into Compose yet? No worries you will and now you'll know what to do with it :)markdc posted Tue, 07 January 2003 at 12:11 PM
