I am just messing around with Bryce again after a few months. I like the pic so far and have no plans to increase detail on the buildings. I just want this to be looked at as a whole. I'll add stuff in the background to keep things busy but that'll be another night. Any comments welcome.

Did you model all the buildings separately, or is the city a texture?

They're terrains made with a heightmap created in Photoshop.

The flying ships seem out of place. They're very sharp textures against soft textures everywhere else on the picture. You might want to soften them. Good job wth the rest of the scene. I haven't seen many cities that looked good with terrain for buildings.

You know, this is something that would make a terrific tutorial

Cityscapes with Bryce are fun to do , I want to make alot of different variations. My Coruscant city was mainly spikes squared off for the buildings this pic uses a good homemade greyscale map. Maybe by taking more time , lots more , I can tune the buildings a little by adding detail to them in the greyscale. Anyways I'm gonna finish this up and add some business to the scene.

I read something somewhere, that you can set the terrain editor to minimum and maximum, and that on the minimum setting, the cursor will only draw on areas that are lighter than the color you're using to draw with. So you don't slop over into the black areas. Something like that anyway. If I could remember the URL I'd send it to you. This guy had built a tractor all out of lattices and terrains and it was extremely detailed and he showed all his techniques. It kicked ass

I'm in the middle of a render and I don't want to stop it to check right now but I think thats the min/max on the brush behavior menu. also theres feature in the terrain editor, hold ctrl+alt, and drag on the posterize button to get cityscapes. hawkfyr
