Hi there. I thought it was about time I introduced myself seeing as how I've been posting alot in the photography gallery recently. My name is Dave. I'm 30 years old. I just got married this summer. My wife and I live in Vancouver BC, Canada, and are expecting our first child next month. I have no education in photography but I still find it a very rewarding hobby, a hobby that is quickly turning into an obsession. I hope to learn alot from here in the near future. Thanks for reading.

Hi Dave! and Welcome! Congratulations on both your marriage and your soon-to-be new hobby (not photography - raising a kid!) :) I took a peek at your gallery - very impressive stuff (you sure you've never had any formal education in photography?). Actually, I think that some of the most interesting stuff comes from people who have no "formal training" - they tend to make possible things that their teachers tell them is impossible - and they have a unique way of seeing things (ever notice how someone who has been "taught" photography takes pictures that look just like their teachers?)...Uh-oh...now I've done it...I've ticked off the people here who HAVE been formally taught...AND EVERYONE HERE who HAS has surpassed the level I was referring to...(gulp). Anyway, this is a great place to keep up to date, learn new techniques, learn from others successes and mistakes, and have a blast all at the same time! Welcome aboard!

Welcome Dave. I've seen your work in the Gallery and enjoyed it. Lots of nice people here, even if somewhat confused. [We like cat pictures the best, but babies are OK if you can't find a cat.]

Ok Misha...we've talked about this whole cat thing before. I thought we had an understanding. Now I gotta go find some duck pictures to upload. Sheesh. Anyway, Hiya Dave. Really nice to meet you. (oh, uh, Dave, gotta warn you about Donald- he has this scanner he likes to carry around with him, he might try to stuff you in it & is just crazy about ducks! wink just nod your head & smile at him if he says anything)
