Hello everyone, after a lot of lurking this is my first post here. I've been tinkering with this for a long time now. The helmet and backpack are based on the helmet and backpack configuration that were worn at on the moon in 2001: A Space Odyssey. The cool suit shown was obtained from 3d Commune. I'm afraid I don't have the skills to even begin to create a suit with a proper neckring for the helmet, hence the setup shown. I created the helmet in Max and the chest & backpack were created in Autocad.

My question is: Is there a way to selectively eliminate the smoothing that I'm getting when I bring the whole helmet/backpack setup into Poser? The helmet looks OK but I'd like sharp edges on the rest of the assembly. Also, I'd like to get rid of or better control the weird highlighting on the pack too. There are no maps applied to this yet as I haven't gotten the intricacies of UV Mapper down yet. I've got the chest/backpack for the spaceship Discovery suits close to done. I'll post pics when they are done.

Thanks for your help.

Ged

Either split/unweld the vertices along the edges you wish to leave sharp, or create a tiny bevel along those edges.
