I wasn't surprised that there weren't too many respondents on this one seeing as the holiday's were the main point of interest in December. Jon stayed on the spot as his sonnet was the only entry to get two points for form. That was pretty much the whole story. Jag I really liked you poem...couldn't really call it a sonnet though, and Cal you bounced your focus back and forth withinin each stanza, and I couldn't find a clearcut volta or change in viewpoint. You took a wide point of view when a sonnet is more introspective in nature. It has been suggested that for the next challenge we concentrate on a mood or a feeling. Now I don't want to be a push button "Love poet" with Februrary coming up that would be too easy and predictable. Let me give it some though. final scores Jstro 10/14=.71 Jagill 9/14=.64 Cal 8/14=.57 Everyone seemed to concentrate on the end rhyme and there wasn't too much more for me to work with.

"Poetry is a subject as precise as geometry." - Gustave Flaubert Which is probably why I've never been good at either. (Precision not being my "thing.")

Looks like I am slipping here. Congrats, Jstro. BTW, Tj, I really liked your poem.

I'll get the winners up in the next few days. I'm finally getting caught up and I'll have a poet square up as well. Congrats to Jon for the win!
