One abstract: an *accidental* shot (you know, when you have forgotten to "lock" your shutter-release) that I quite liked for its colour and composition when it was developed.

Another: not abstract, probably just more "on the nose" - my old runners. Comments critique, nose-pegs, welcome. :-)>

my 2 cents, for what its worth - the colors in the first photo are nice, however i don't really see anything special about it... the 2nd photo - maybe if it was cropped a bit more - but now it just looks like a shot of sneakers

Honestly i like the colors ont he first but I am not much into abstract so... The runners though, well i like the shot, it seems bright. I would tone it down a bit. I would disagree with Mike in the fact that if anything I would pan back a bit. this could take care of the brightness depending on the surrounding items, and if they are in the bottom of say a messy closet that would tell a differnt story. Perhaps one would wonder why they haven't been used. But hey what do I know? I am but a poor man that has only cowboy boots!

If you don't mind, the frame of mind I've been in the last month I'm seeing everything monochromatically. I'd probably convert it to something like this and maybe play with the texture. Not a lot into it (just got home from work and trying to relax a bit -- ah, nothing like a 12 1/2 hr shift). -=>Donald

I like the monochrome Donald that's really nice, thank you. I was more in agreeance with zhounder thinking the crop was more on the tight side than anything Mike...if I cropped it anymore, it would probably look like a shot of say, shoelaces, but I did intend it to be a photograph of sneakers! chuckle as for the abstract...yeah, apart from the colours, it probably is a nothing shot. Thanks for the feedback people! :-)>

I really like the top image great abstract with some wonderful strong colours! But I dont care what anyone says or does! How can an old pair of trainers(sneakers) be intresting??

DHolman posted Wed, 15 January 2003 at 2:17 PM

Trick - I think it can be done. It's all in the technique though. I would have said the same thing about boots, but I've seen quite a few still life shots of boots that are really nice. Just about anything can be interesting if you find a fresh way to show it. I've seen a shot of the pull tab on a soda can that was pretty cool. :) What's interesting about a pull tab? Nothing, but the way the guy shot and lit it, it made it interesting. -=>Donald
