I have been importing grayscale photoshop height maps into Bryce 4 and and applying them to terrains. This has worked out great for my custom landscapes ....however, when I import and apply maps that show shapes with sharp edges..they seem to "melt down" when I apply them to a bryce terrain. Is there anything I can do to use grayscale maps with sharp edges and produce 3D mesh which maintains the clean and sharp shapes? Thanks for your support!!

Lets see.. First, use .tif or .bmp.. jpg compression might screw things up a bit. Another thing is to turn off antialiasing in photoshop. That's probably the main source of smoothing. In Bryce, there's also the sharpen button.. don't know if it would help, but it's worth a try. =) Hope that helps. Rosh

Try a little guassian blur in Photoshop first before importing into Bryce. Hawkfyr

Try increasing the complexity of the grid as well.
