Over the last few months, a number of animators and people interested in animation have posted "Where can I see Poser movies?" I'm pleased to report that the Renderosity Free Stuff now has an Animation Section. As of now, you'll be able to post a thumbnail & links to your animations (hosted off-site). I'm still hoping that at some point this will be fully integrated into the Galleries section of Renderosity, but that requires a certain amount of technical work and servers for hosting that's not available right now. The technologies already implemented in the Free Stuff Area allow us to get this started now. In the meantime we do have a central location where we can easily access each other's work. The Animation section is divided into categories based on subject (Action, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Works in Progress) NOT software, so pass the word in the other forums. Animation is here! C'mon all you Posimators, move it!

Yea!... now I wish I had a large server to host my stuff, so I could actually share my animations...

GREAT !!!!! and a great start..... Is it that difficult to set up an animation section in the gallery???? Would be much easier to find them...if they're all in one place...also we could comment and obtain help right there.... It could still be a linked affair just as in the free stuff deal....

That is what we (the animators) ultimately want. However, apparently the technology in place in the Galleries is set up to deal with items stored on the 'Rosity servers. Either Renderosity would have to host the files (potentially one HECK of a lot of server space required) or the technology would have to be reconfigured to handle stuff stored elsewhere. That apparently takes more money/time from the Renderosity Technical people than is available right this minute. Free Stuff, on the other hand, is already configured to handle stuff stored elsewhere. I personally very strongly agree that the Art Galleries are the best permanent home for this. However, I'd rather have this started now the way it is than wait till the time/money/etc. required to make integrate it into the Art Galleries becomes available. The Animators now have a solid beachhead. We've discussed all sorts of options in the Community Ideas Forum. This is a start, and I appreciate very much that this step has happened. We'll see how things grow in the future.

You can put animation in the gallery by using html to provide a link. See attached.

Mark, that's true. However, if you rely on that, there's no simple, central location for viewers to find animations. Unless someone knows your name or the title for your work, they'll probably never find your animation. A central location like we're working towards will make it a lot easier for that Big Hollywood Producer to discover markdc! As of last night, they could find animations (and animators) in the Free Stuff area. Hopefully in the future they'll be able to look at the obvious place, the Art Galleries, and find us. I know I'm preaching to the choir. I'm going to shut up. [grin]

I like the freestuff idea also. I just wanted to show another way to do it. Hopefully they will add an animation section to the gallery. -Mark
